Joe Porper was a giant in the Billiard industry for decades. He started building cues and cases in the 1980s. His cases quickly became one of the most popular cases in the world. He developed a conical joint pin that required very precise installation and assured concentricity. He also did some very creative inlay work with a crystal clear pocket with the inlay material in the bottom of the pocket. This allowed him to use thin material like snake skin, thin exotic stone material, shell and such. He won the People’s Choice award at the 1999 Gallery of American Cue Art show in New York. Joe also owned the business Creative Inventions where he produced many products for cue maintenance. He started make Pool Cue repair lathes in the early 90s and then introduced the B Model cue lathe in the mid 90s which became one of the top cue building lathes in the world. Joe also had a passion for magic shows and produced many props for that industry. Joe passed away in January of 2021 at the age 83. His company name Creative Inventions really summed up Joe’s life as he was a very creative inventor.
