Joe Salazar

I talked with Joe and he said that first guy that really beat him was Keith.

I have to laugh at JAMS story compared to Joe. Joe lead me to believe that Keith just beat him and it wasn't as close as JAMs story. Maybe he was being modest, but Joe said that he beat everyone he played until that time. I remember Joe saying he was quite a bit (whatever that means) older than Keith and he was just a kid, (whatever that means but I am guessing less than 21 probably closer to 18).

What sucks is not having any video like we do today. Now we have terrible matches on video, instead of some of these epic matches.

I would love to see this and all the matches with Keith and Dave Matlock. I bet those would be dandies. Both of them beat the other, so it wasn't like Dave or Keith won all the time. Apparently it was a dog fight each time, but no hard feelings afterward.

I would really like to see some video of Joe playing the last time I talked to Joe in tunica he promised if he and his wife Donna ever came to AL to see his sister in law he would come over to my house and hit some I live next door to his wife's sister

can any one tell me any thing of his playing days I understand he does not play any more because of health problems

Just as an added tidbit, Joe often played with a house cue. Not really as a hustle I saw him play tough matches with house cues. He did have a Sailor cue when I knew him as well. That was the reason I ordered one, that I never got by the way, even though I prepaid.

Keith never beat Matlock on a bar table

Keith never beat Matlock on a bar table

This is an untruth, and it is false. Keith has defeated Dave Matlock on a bar table and a big table with hundreds of witnesses on site.

Here we go again.

that is very true that story i told about seeing joe play louie and breaking his stick
it was a house cue

I first saw Joe Salazar at Grady's one pocket tournament in Baton Rouge in '99(?). He played an afternoon match that went more than 5 hours. I overheard Grady saying that joe played so slow and so carefully that they moved the match to the practice room mid-rack to get the evening matches started. If Grady thought you play too carefully you must play pretty darn carefully!

When he went on the road as a youngster,
He left with a 1 piece house cue-
