My stroke is in bad shape from not playing, but a friend wants some lessons and tips. I almost feel guilty for helping with that because my mechanics are probably really sloppy now, and I don't even think about pool anymore.

But, I was cruising through pool stuff on the web, and I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed with this boring vid. I wish I could stroke that straight without a gadget, but doing it this well with one is impressive as well.

you're gonna have to be more clear d00d. No idea what vid or gadget you're talking about.

Joe's the real deal and his gadgets seem to truly help people. If you don't even care about pool anymore, refer your buddy to joe =)

The video is only boring to those that don't value the content.

Joe doesn't talk physics or any BS. He tells you, and shows you, how to get better.

Refer your friend to Joe, and feel good about yourself because it will pay off for your friend.

Joe's videos are well worth the money.

If your friend is serious about pool, and wants live (one on one) instruction.
Joe Tucker gives in-person lessons, but if you are in Cali, Joe may not be able to get out there, unless he is on tour for pro tournaments.

If your friend wants a live lesson ASAP, then look up the nearest BCA instructor. They do video analysis and will identify areas to improve mechanics.
I can only vouch for 2 instructors because I have only recently taken lessons...even though I've been playing for years...and I still learn quite a lot from Scott Lee.
Bob Jewett resides in California. Check out his website: San Francisco Billiards academy: http://www.sfbilliards.com/
Scott Lee resides in Michigan, but travels all over the US, and he may get out to Cali. Check out his website: http://www.poolknowledge.com/

I have only taken one (full day) lesson from Scott Lee while I was in Michigan for Christmas, but I am sure Bob Jewett is a great instructor as well. I've played with Bob in Str8 pool and some 9 ball at Shoreline Billiards in Sunnyvale. And we've chatted a bit on some facets of playing pool. He has a lot of knowledge, and is an author for http://onthebreaknews.com/JewettIndex.htm
And he plays pretty damn good, too.
Check out his impossible 90 degree cut shot:
