I've been playing both pool and golf since I was 11 years old. During that time I've seen hundreds of training aids and devices, and I thought almost every one was total bull crap. Basically a gimmick to get your money. However, I've finally found one that is the real deal and that is Joe Tucker's 3rd Eye Stroke Trainer.
It's been around for a while, and there are probably other posts about it on this forum but I wanted to give my personal review. If you don't know what it is it is a plastic fork looking attachment that fits on the end of your cue by the tip. It is just barely wider than the cueball, and as you practice and hit shots with it it gives you feedback in terms of letting you know you are actually aligned to the center of the cueball and that you are making contact on that line and not swerving your stroke.
Before I got it and started practicing with it my stroke was pretty bad. Every time I hit a shot with draw, particularly if I had to hit it hard, I was putting HUGE unintentional spin on the cueball and missing shots badly. I knew I had to do something. Based on what I read the 3rd Eye Stroke Trainer was right up my alley, and it only costs about 12 bucks. When I got it and finally practiced with it the first time I realized how much I was off, but as I watched the dvd that came with it and practiced with it like Joe said something amazing started to happen. My stroke slowly but surely started to straighten out. Now I'm drawing the cue ball with less effort. I'm able to stop it without unintentional spin. I'm making way more shots and having more confidence. I seriously can't recommend it enough.
