John Barton VS Lou Figueroa

There are a boatload that play like me. Nothing special there. It is a hobby.

I know. I'm British. There are a hundred players of your standard within 10 miles of me. I think this is the problem: many people on here do not realise how many good players there are, and are easily impressed when they see one on video, and think "cor! It's because he uses a system!". I think you are a fine player because you can cue a ball and have practiced, just like all the 100 players around me.

Not one of those 100 shortstop speed players have given aiming a second's thought.

Bullshit.

You are full of it. There are not 100 players of Gerry's ability within 10 miles of you no matter where you live on the planet.

This post alone shows that you have really no clue about this or any other cue sport.

Lol. There are almost certainly many more. There are monsters EVERYWHERE here, John. We are a small, overcrowded, cue sport mental island, that has produced more top quality cueists than the rest of the world combined, by a factor of about 50. Do the damn math man.

Obviously, I'm talking about the cue sports we actually play here.

Any one is welcome to come to Edgies and play me.....best to see the bullshit in real time. Oh and I have posted videos....but you if really want to see how bad I play....stop on by. Until then........never underestimate your opponent.

Sure do get a lot of greenies from some reason.

Whats is funny is its one pocket. I can see all the balls down at one end of the table and just moving balls around, hours go by and finally someone takes a shot at their pocket misses and the next guy moves the ball out. Man that's some fast paced action there.

Try a game where you get punished for missing....14.1, a real game of pool.

Common on someone come play me to report back that I'm what I've always called myself....no name banger.

Oh we know you can't really play. We don't need the videos to see that. The problem is that you want to tell everyone else what NOT to do.

You see Duckie, we know all about ghost ball. We understand the Arrow template. Billiard Instruction books and videos use ghost ball extensively. So we don't need a rank beginner like you telling us to use GB.

What's annoying though is that you claim that the systems we are discussing don't work yet you won't try them and so you have no clue about them.

As for 14.1 I guess you have never seen a long safety battle. Lastly if you were someone who really appreciate pool then you would understand the intricacies of one pocket. This is a game where cue ball control is paramount and missing usually comes with a high cost.

Why don't you just get out of these discussions? The entire sum of your contributions is this: The Arrow GB template and practice is all you need.

We got it. Thanks. Now move on while we continue to discuss methods you won't try.

Please. You have top players in a game that is popular in your country. You don't have the most top pool players, in 14.1, banks, 8 ball, 9 ball, one pocket, etc...., you don't have the most top carom players, you don't have the most top Russian Pyramid players, you don't have the most top English billiards players.

You have the most top snooker players and the most top english 8 ball players. That's it.

You have a few pool players (American Pool) who can compete on the world stage. Other than that you have good players just like we do, some very good, some average, some poor. Try that BS on someone that hasn't been to England several times.

I GUARANTEE you that the style of one pocket that *I* play will make you eat your words. Remember, I play both 14.1 and one pocket (see my avatar and avatar description text). Yeah, you go try to get into a "moving" game with me as you describe above -- especially since you don't know one pocket and "think" you can move -- and watch what happens.

I love the bravado you're displaying -- from the safety of your little abode at this place called "Edgies." Many readers have personally witnessed my game, but noone has witnessed yours, except from the "basic primer high-loop closed bridge" YouTube duck-shot videos you put up at one time. You're right -- never underestimate your opponent -- but sometimes someone inadvertently exposes a lot of "tells" in their videos, when they post them to prove an unrelated point.

Oh, and I'm not a CTE/Pro-1 user at the moment, but I have run a hundred or so balls on several occasions. But hey, I leave all options open, because true students of the game always have an open mind. Your bravado is very unfounded.

EDIT: oh, and what I find particularly amusing, is for someone who "so espouses" the virtues of 14.1, has not once -- not even ONCE(!) -- visited or posted in the 14.1 forum on these boards. Another "tell."

Maybe not but it is certainly implied. Why else would non system users be asked to show videos of themselves shooting, if not for the advocate to scream "look! he can't play as well as Stan or Gerry!"

There's no doubt in my mind that Stan would blow Ronnie away in the blind curtain test. Does that mean that Stan is a better shooter than Ronnie is? No, in no way does it imply that at all. What it does mean though, is that it proves that Stan's aiming system does work as described. How well it works for one is largely dependent on how well the shooter can do the other things needed, such as stroke straight every time, ect. But, again, it does prove the aiming system works.

Stan will blow Ronnie off the table in banks and one pocket as well.

If you get to the level of proficiency that Ronnie is at with potting then you have aiming down perfectly. Any player who puts in that amount of time will develop their aiming to a very high level.

That doesn't mean that there isn't a different or better way to learn to aim at pool or snooker. One thing that is interesting about some folks is that they have a tendency to look at the best example of performance that currently exists and assume that no one can ever do better.

Then, inevitably, someone comes along and does better.

Actually, to be fair, I have to take that back -- you have posted in the 14.1 forum before, but it was 3 years ago. But for someone who supposedly so loves the game of 14.1, one would think we'd see a heck of a lot more participation from you. But no, your posting fixation seems to be with the topic of aiming. Very interesting where you put your efforts in contrast to someone who supposedly practices the game so much. :scratchhead:

Good players are good players, no matter which game they play. I don't understand your point.

And, as for someone who "has been to England several times", please. You claim you're a regular 50 break maker at snooker and it's "easy" to pot balls down the rails in English pool, so I'll take your claims about the game in my country with a large dollop of salt.

....or NPR.

Which is probably the perfect place for him to post.

I have never said it is easy to run balls down the rails on english pool tables. I have said its possible and I have done it.

I am fairly sure I could trounce you at snooker and English 8 ball though.

Really?

So by by that logic Earl Strickland is as good as Ronnie at snooker?

Seems you are always saying the opposite.

Tell you what, tell Ronnie to bring 5 million to the USA to play Shane a race to 100 on the Diamond and see how he likes it. In fact see if you can find anyone with a British passport willing to go up against Shane in that format.

What's that? The sound of silence?

The USA probably has more good players per capita than Britain does. And Certainly they don't actually have a lot of them that are as good or better than Gerry.

Wherever Gerry might go in the world he would be one of the better players..

I doubt you know the rules of either game. Let's talk when you know whether you've any money or not.

Well since you wouldn't ever come out from under your bridge it doesn't matter what I know. You won't bet ten shillings you are alive. Another stereotype busted or perhaps you aren't really British.
