John Bender has been real busy with Cuestock coming up and he has made a few "different" cues...

Hot Rod is a very different cue... its pointed with intersecting points, fiery burl, and a stainless steel hose wrap bound at the ends.. yes its definitely a first, and a lug nut for a butt cap, probably another first. BTW this cue is only 19 oz. If you're a car buff, you must own this cue. YES that is a SPARK PLUG Joint CAP.

The ebony box cue is the sister to another box cue with oversized boxes he made a year or two ago.

The braided hose is to carry the car theme through the cue. It is the same material that a braided pressure hose is covered with....

I love the hot rod cue. Look forward to seeing it at Cuestock! Great to see people trying something new!

Well crap I wanted to see pics of the cues guess I will have to wait another 16 days befor I can see them.

What are you showing us? Nice to know about your stuff but shouldn't this be in the main forum?
It would have been nice to see your stuff.

Relax Nick, the cues are on hiatus. Joe will post them after the show.

Why don't you show us some new photos of old cues you got there? In a separate thread, of course.

the hot rod cue is crazy cool.....very out of the box....:thumbup: i will be looking forward to seeing it in 16 days also...
 
The Hot Rod cue is hawt! Would look very cool sitting next to a Mobley M-22 Rack Crusher.
 
Hot Rod

If you closed your eyes and someone put the Hot Rod in your hand, you would never
think the wrap was what it is. Surprisingly smooth.
 
Wow really neat cues that one cue looks like it has flex pipe for handle I use it on my turbo cars all the time and the spark plug cap is really cool :thumbup:
 
Sweet cue

The cool thing about this cue is the butt of it has a kind of flat taper to match each side of the lug nut butt cap and the wrap has a little give to it when you hold it all I can say is WOW, and John did a bang up job on this cue and a good story why it was built.
 
The butt sleeve and the cap protector are faceted to match the six sided configuration of the nut and the spark plug. The braided stainless is left unglued through the middle the mimic the feel of braided hoses under the hood of a hot rod. The engine builder John Burnett that inspired this cue would have loved it according to his friends. He unfortunately passed away a few years ago.
 
I've gotten to know John some over the years. I visited his shop on a few occassions and really enjoyed seeing the cues he had just completed or that were underway. John is a fine builder, his craftsmanship is top-notch. Anybody looking to get a custom made would be silly not to at least consider Mr. Bender.
