John Bender-Walnut cue-Early Stages

I am having John Bender build a cue for me, I sold the first one I had from John as I prefer a cue i have some input into. I sent the wood to John and it will be a Bastogne Walnut, cored with water fall Bubinga points and butt.

It is cored due to the weight and stability issues of walnut and as you can tell its some way off but it is progressing. It will be number 66 of his cues. John isnt doing any inlay work yet but he is doing all of his work by hand no computer and with jigs he has made.

John is maintaining what I believe is a reasonable if not low price on his cues until he reaches the 100 mark. There are many exceptional cue makers out there. I have a Searing a JR and a Eddie Farris in my collection and all are played. I was impressed with Johns cue enough that i sold the first one after i had talked to him about building me a cue. If you are thinking of having a cue built its my opinion that you should add his name to the list of builders to talk to.

Perfect choice, the hybrid Walnut is much harder and well suited for cues over other species of Walnut. Beautiful curl as well.

I've got his 45th cue and I love it. It is a superb player. I wanted to try his work and was very impressed with the balance and hit. Tell him what you like and step back... The results will be a great value.

On the strength of my first cue, I ordered a second. Not surprising, it will be a box cue. John is also very particular about his shaft wood. You'll see the craftsmanship and choice of materials right away.

Great move choosing a Bender and working with John on a design. It's sure to be a meaningful experience.
