John Schmidt- live 14.1

It will become self limiting after a certain point. You can make 3.75 inch corner (pool) pockets playable, but after that you'll need some serious modifications to angle and slate depth. Also, even at the 3.75 inch mark, the game will be changed in a way that will make it unrecognizable. Certain shots will become unviable. You may see someone choose side pocket breakshots over corner pocket ones, depending on how the sides are cut, you may see people pass on what today is a perfect breakshot and choose something else entirely. Rail shots will need to be shot with extreme care and only 45 degree shots into an open corner or shots straight into the side can be blasted. All other shots must be shot with restraint.

Yes it will be impressive, but it won't be straight pool as we know it today.
I don't know, not sure if I agree. We all adjust our game for the particular table we're playing on. If they need to adjust a lot, it will still be straight pool.

I've been a hardcore pool fan for 35 years or so and even I get bored watching routine runouts with no chance of missing. Personally, I would like to watch players have to concentrate and think more...and play more safes. I want to see them miss and be impressed when they run a rack.

Anyway, just my opinion of course.

John's runs (in chronological order) of 100 or more balls on the Gold Crown table with 4 7/8" corners:
5/18/22 (attempts for about 6.1 hours) -- 170, 199, 154, 186, 224
5/19/22 (attempts for about 5.5 hours) -- 103, 106, 140, 192, 238

Apparently not.
I thought I did.
Please explain.
John is playing amazingly well under the conditions. Today the table was wet but yet he's still managed to do what he did. They commented it was raining outside and that the room was very humid.

I just felt it was a shame that they went through all this and that table is just playing so difficult for straight pool. I think what he's trying to accomplish under the circumstances can't be done.

Don't get me wrong I don't think he's supposed to be on an easier table, that table there seems pretty conventional. It just will limit what he can do..

We all play on tables under varying conditions.
That's pool.
You know that.
Nobody plays in a laboratory.
We play in poolrooms.

Shaw says he can run 1000.
Shaw on pocket size of John's table "You could put Chris Melling in one of those buckets"
I think Shaw is exaggerating. I could not fit Chris Melling in one of those buckets.
