John Schmidt- live 14.1

Hey everyone. I just came across this on YouTube and didn’t see any mentions of it. Only a few people watching right now but from the few minutes I’ve seen you’re getting a live commentating by John as he’s playing, as well as dudes in the booth.

Huge thanks to the OP.

Unquestionably John's reaction to Jayson's 714.

I guess I'm Captain Obvious. Now he knows the world has to see it being done live without possibility editing.

It's because Predator is sponsoring it

Are you one of those who thinks the 626 video was doctored? Not trying to start a war of words here, I'm just curious to know what it was about the way he went about it that made people think it was edited.

He is playing some kind of exhibition... but it would be awesome to assist a new world record from here!

This Predator table has 4¼" corners. The plan is to use it today and tomorrow, then move to a Gold Crown with 5" corners on Wednesday.

good to see them running balls and playing 14.1

what is different than old times is how the balls are polished and break open without slamming the break. along with faster cloth. it used to be you had to break the balls open multiple times during a rack. kicking out balls as you went along. its just the way the game has changed.

in my mind the run numbers dont mean much. but the fact they are running big numbers is nice to see.

I like the snooker style of breaking the balls out slowly throughout the frame. The first few times I watched, and I still get this feeling but I know what’s up now, I would get nervous as hell that they hadn’t smashed open the pack lol.

“There’s your chance!” But those guys are so good and precise they don’t usually take any risk. Methodical dissection of the pack.

I guess that’s the old school way of 14.1 as well. It makes sense when playing an opponent for sure, in case you miss or need to play safe later you have the pack there and your opponent will have to work and be precise instead of just plucking ducks.

But for a high run exhibition I guess it helps conserve mental energy to just smash them open.

A new run of 126 ended with a scratch to the kitchen corner. John said to the guys in the booth he's going to make another attempt and call it a day, as he's pretty tired already.
