I have never owned one of his cues. However, I hear they are fabulous, play great and precision execution. However, in manufacturing, you have cost of materials, direct labor, overhead, and profit. Making for yourself, direct labor and profit can be blurred.
However, a cue maker should have a general idea what your price should be. Secondary market sales should have no influence on prices previously committed. Three friends made deals and the price went up on completion. Significantly!

Still making cues. A lot on his plate.
He missed delivery (never built it) after the promise of 5 year delivery.
Demanded a 25% deposit upon order, so he holds on to your money for years.
Price quoted is at one price, and when it is being built or about to be built the price is significantly higher (basically hold your new cue hostage).
If that sounds like the kind of cuemaker that you are wanting to deal with, jump in, the waters fine.

As stated, he's still building them. Not everything he does gets shared online.
