John Wright

I only dealt with John over the phone and I can still hear his voice saying "yiasou Paul" since he was half Greek. And I believe he may have been the true originator of cue financing since he let me do a couple deals in 2 or 3 part payments back when I first started collecting.
The sad thing is whenever I visit my brother-in-law in Roselle, IL I drive by the Palatine water tower and always think of John.

I never met Mr Wright however, I did buy my first custom cue from him some ten years ago over the phone. I saw his ad in one of the pool magazines and contacted him. He sent me some photos of some really nice custom cues however, none really interested me. When he asked me what I was exactly looking for I told him nothing fancy, alittle on the plain side with a nice hit.

He then recommended a plain very early Omega/DPK that he had in his collection. It had not been used and was one Omega/DPK's earliest cues from their production. So, I bought it...sight unseen and till this day I still have it and have not played with it. I trusted him and I'm glad I did.

It was the start of my own collection that I have since whittled down to a handfull now. He was knowledgable, polite, kind and most of all patient (I didn't know anything about cues at the time).

I'm certain he is busy up in heaven doing the same thing he did on while he was on earth...now he is heaven's cue broker.

Hello AzBilliards forum members, this is my first post on this forum or any other pool forum since the old rsb days.

I had the opportunity to purchase many a cue from John. I greatly enjoyed receiving his photos/catalog. They really were wonderful to get in the mail and I spent along time looking them over choosing which cue from which cue maker I'd hope to own one day. In my experience, he was always honorable and did what he said he would do. Although I never met him, I miss his presence and credit him with the custom cue explosion and evangalism.

Some members of this forum may remember me from rsb or ebay, and I thank Pizza Bob for telling me to join up here!

I kinda miss the envelopes with the pics showing up in the mail. I bought a few Omega's from John back in the day, was always easy to deal with.
