Johnny Archer Bobbing and Plucking???

Oh yeah, my other Aussie buddy Emile Riera knocked out Earl in the same tourney 13-10. Despite having played little 9-ball previously. With Earl sharking like a thief all through the match.

The biggest tourney of their lives and they couldn't rise to the occassion against newbies.

I've watched Johnny Archer play in several matches on video. He knows the game well and breaks very well, but Johl on his worst day is a much finer cueist.

You can't be serious?!! That's the most ludicrous
statement I've heard in a long time. I don't see
Johl Younger winning any major titles. Archer on the
other hand has won everything there is to win, his
list of titles is longer than m arm. Gimme a break.

Thats how I heard it also. After johnny ran the set out, I heard Busta doubled the bet. Makes sense though, at least you are'nt playing to break even.......G

The way I heard it they split sets and broke
even, the second set was for the same money as the
first.

It's called rah-rahing your local boys...a bit of competitive jesting!

I never said they were better players...I called them newbies to the game. If there is a point to be taken, it's that maybe the gap between some legends and some up-and-coming talents is not as large as some imagine.

I was there that night in Toledo, ohio.Bustamonte won 2 sets(1st & 3rd) and Johny won one set( second one)

I watched him at DCC last year and he drove me nuts. The only
guy ALMOST as bad as him is George Breedlove.

What's up with Johnny Archer plucking invisible hairs off the table and bobbing up and down like an ostrich? It's so annoying to watch!

He seems to be having no fun at all when he plays. Is he heading for a nervous breakdown or what?

It seems every time the WPC comes around he's being touted as the in form favourite. I've never seen him playing in hot form. Maybe some of you here have.

I watched him in Japan against my buddy Johl Younger who was playing with a snooker cue. Johl beat him 13-11. It would have been 13-5 I reckon, save for Johnny getting a lot of great breaks including at least a couple of golden balls.

Anyway, just stirring the pot a bit for a reaction and some interesting conversation.

Sure, I talk too much at times. I've got my faults, but I also believe I am here to learn and offer ideas. I don't think those who have read my posts here over 3 years would have the impression that I'm out to belittle the pros. But I like to critique and analyze their games as a tool to learn.

Anyway, you spanked me good. Time to move on now.

I've mentioned Archer's style on here before with no feedback.
He gets up, he gets down, he resets, he starts to shoot, stops,
and then starts all over again. I aged 3 years watching him play
Breedlove and Kid Delicious.

I think Johnny declined to double the bet. The third set was for the same amount, or so I read, and Bustamante won. Hey, I don't blame him--the odds against some guy running 13 racks *back-to-back* must be astronomical.

well there is your answer.

Johl's running a kind of strip bar in Surfer's Paradise last I heard in partnership with Craig Duffy, ex 2 times 3rd in the World Pool Masters. Craig made it very rich with a gambling software company called Tomato.

Johl had mediocre success on the pro-snooker circuit the past few years. He's picked up a couple of UK 9-ball titles recently. Maybe he'll make a comeback to pool, or maybe he's happy enough doing biz. Anyway, up to him...a great talent that's for sure.

looks like his cotton pickin talents have taken him a long way in billiard competition.uuuhhm unlike your ex-player friend.

I think Johnny may have OCD and this is just how he deals with it. Kind of like that TV show MONK.

This is probably truer than you know. OCD is a disease, that depending upon the severity, can be a mentally debilitating disease that can really get in the way of developing a rythym at pool. Some people don't even realize they have it and never take the proper medication. I would bet that if Johnny has OCD, it is probably mild and very treatable. JMO
