Joint diameters not matching up

Silly question, I have a sneaky butt that is .910 at the joint, and Im wanting to use a .850 diameter predator shaft on it. Im not going to get anything modified, as it wouldnt be worth the cost on this particular butt.

Question is, would there be any concerns/issues or anything playing with that much of a size difference at the joint? Ive had plenty of shafts be a little off here and there, but never .060.

I use a butt that is .790 with a shaft that is .850, looks dumb but plays great. Don't let it bug you.

Not a silly question, though a straight forward answer.

The issue is damaging the face/edge of the butt. That overhang is large enough it will catch on the rail, a pocket edge, anything that it might come into contact with. As this happens and it gets banged/bumped the edge will get damaged/dinged. Over time if you play with it a lot it might get pretty bad, unless you are super careful with it. It won't affect play.

Since it is not a valuable butt, you could bevel the edge of the joint face on the butt so that it meets the shaft without a sharp step down, or at least much less of one.
