Changing from steel to ivory will change the weight & balance of the cue. It will move the balance backwards & weight down. Hit might be slightly softer with ivory, but likely too fine of a difference to notice much.

Melamine ferrules are lightweight & very durable. The quality varies with manufacturer, so some is better than others. It's bright white, smooth textured & has a linen weave pattern. The good stuff is chalk resistent. It sometimes has black or brown specs & very rarely has bloches. Hit's hard, crisp & is thought to give lower deflection than heavier ferrule materials.

Ivory is heavier & not quite as durable. It's more prone to cracking, though still not common. It's chalk resistent & has a nice grain pattern. Very smooth & clean look. The weight is often thought to contribute to higher deflection. It's expensive.

i won't change the cue.Just want to learn. The cue that i have is the only ''unit'' that i can compare with an other
