Joint identification

My wife has agreed to let me teach her how to shoot pool. I pulled out my 30+ year old cues and will need to get a new shaft for them but I can't seem to identify the threads. I tried going through Seyberts joint by manufacturer page, and the closest I can come is 5/16x14 and 5/16x18 (manufacturers are not listed). Am I correct?

I hoped that my own photo would help but the two pins look pretty similar. I can assure you that my left cue is 5/16-14 and the right is 5/16-18.

I do think yours are 14s but you might want to stop in a pool hall on league night. A Joss/Schon is a 14 and a Meucci is 18. A couple of turns will to tell you.

Now that my photo posted, I am more confident you also have a 14. The only worry is how large a pilot can handle. Most aftermarket shafts have a small pilot but others are larger and might not fit.

Yes they look like 5/16 -14 if you want to be sure just count the number of threads per inch and that will tell you.

9 threads for 1/2"....so 5/16x18
I don't remember ever trying🤦‍♂️ , but they are both the same. They both screw into, and sit flat, into each other's shaft.

Just buy a thread pitch, bolt size gauge...easy to use. Also a car guy, I have one similar to this in my rollaway. A local fastener supply store sold the one I bought, marked with their own advertising. I paid $3.95, but that was years ago.:
