joint maintenace

I have read a lot about maintenance of cues and cue shafts but have not come across anything on joints.

Is there some minor maintenance ( ie: lubricating) suggested for cue joints? I am asking about mainly about SS joints and G-10s but also wood to wood big pin joints.

From my point of view, there's not a lot of maintenance required in the joint area other than to keep things clean.
On the other hand, wood shrinks and expands with temperature and humidity. We are in a period of season change towards higher temps and humidity. If you should find your joint getting tighter, you might put a little wax (paraffin, bees, or carnuba) on the threads of the pin to help lubricate the threads - a little dab will do ya!
As I mentioned, keeping things clean - a very small speck of dust or dirt that gets stuck on the joint face of either the shaft or the butt, can cause the tip to wobble, perhaps giving you the idea that your shaft or butt has warped.

I don't use my cues for digging in the garden but apparently you have yours up your A$$. How do you clean it?

Whoa-simmer down .The guy was just making a joke. There is a lot of that on this forum.
