Joint pin question

I am looking to build a stick for myself and then one for a friend. I was looking at the different pins available and have narrowed it down to a radial pin or 3/8-10 pin. The stick I have now has a radial pin and it just screws into wood in the shaft. Are 3/8-10 pins usually wood to wood or do they need a insert in the shaft ?

Wood to wood or you can put a phenolic plug in the shaft and tap it for 3/8x10

a radial pin is just another bastard pin that is unnecessary....there are at least 3 different sizes.............. stick with 3/8-10

Anything will strip it will just last longer since phenolic is harder than the wood so there is less wear on the threads
