Joint question

Hi,

Could someone guide me if the mezz wavy joint is same as a radial joint?

Thanks
If you are referring to the Uni-loc brand radial joint screw then the answer is no. The Uni-loc radial is something like 7.2x tpi (threads per inch) while the Mezz wavy is an off-shoot of the joint pins that I use, since 2002, for my Japan market cues. They are 3/8" x 9 tpi.

The reason for this configuration is that I received quite a number of repairs on Uni-loc brand pin cues. With the heft of the wood threads on the shaft (female), increased humidity swelled these and caused difficulty in tightening and unscrewing. The 9tpi configuration cured this problem because the lesser contact face threads didn't swell as much to cause as much dimension change as the 7.2x tpi.

Thanks for the inputs Edwin..

Are there 2 kinds of radial?would the radial on capone cues same as mezz wavy?

Radial refers to the shape of the groove in the screw. It is not a "Vee" shaped groove but is a radius, like a childs drawing of waves on the ocean. The number of threads per inch is another story.

If the screw is tight, put some wax on the screw or some bar soap.

Mezz wavy is totally different from radial. It's kinda of more of a closer family of a 3/8-10. Also mezz wavy has additional double mini thread on each main thread. No, it won't fit a radial pin.
