joints! joints! joints!

As some of you know I am friends with Ted aka cuesblues.
Ted has a rather large collection of cues. I have played with a lot of his cues. All different types of joints, pins, shaft tapers from every era of cue making going back to a Rambow from 1940 or so. The only cue of his that had a hit that was vastly different from all the others was a steel jointed Tad.And I never unscrewed the cue to see if it was flat faced or piloted and I don't know enough about Tad cues to know with out looking.
But the hit was perfect for me.And i know the hit of a cue is subjective but this one was really different.
I have two cues that I play with. One is unilock and the other is 3/8 flat faced wood to wood and I can't tell much difference between the two.
