Joss AJ-01, good cue?

Hi! First time poster, long time reader.

I've been contemplating making the "leap" to that $200 cue area as to take my game a little more seriously but, have some nice eye candy to boot. My sneaky pete is still a great cue that I use exclusively but want that nice look and feel of Irish wrap, subtle inlays and great looking wood. I came across this Joss, the AJ-01. I was curious why some of the big name online retailers like Ozone or Pooldawg do not carry them? As I understand that all Joss cues are made in America and serialized, is the AJ series not one of them? I really like this cue, alot, and do not want to feel I wasted $200 on something that is not a representation of the real deal.

Thanks!

Yes, it's a good cue. Yes, it is made in America. Yes, it has a serial number, if it does not there's something wrong.

Lots of cues out there these days in that price range, but hard to go wrong with a JOSS.

Thanks for the quick reply! Good to know! As you mentioned, there is quite a lot to choose from in the price range, but I really like the simple looks and elegant wood and I have read that Joss has quite a reputation for quality cues in this price segment. Thanks again!

Another supporter. Joss makes a very good production cue. I've owned A LOT over the years. If you're looking to "step up", this would be a great way to start!

As far as why the online places you mentioned don't carry them...there could be a WIDE range of reasons as to why or why not...can't begin to speculate on that one! I just did a quick Google search, and saw several retailers who DO carry that model...

Joss makes cue lines for various distributors under contract that are not always found on their web site. Did you check their cue archive? Maybe it's an older model not in current production. I personally do not know the model.

Joss AJ Series of Pool Cues

Yes, the Joss AJ Series is an exclusive series made for Aurora Road Billiard Supply. The line is in their new catalog and available from authorized Joss dealers who buy through Aurora Road... like me!☺ There are many, many Joss cues that are made exclusively for particular distributors. I use 4 different suppliers for my Joss line and none of the suppliers have the same Joss cues. Andrew - Owner - Pool Cues To You - Portland, Oregon.
