Any word on what happen or who won

hi Dave. the story will be up on AZ sometime late today or tomorrow - Mike Howerton is traveling back from Manila so it is a little bit delayed. Dennis Hatch won - the details will follow in the article - sounded like a great tournament.

Small but very strong field-
1st Dennis Hatch
2nd Mike Dechaine
3rd Chuck Altomare
4th Jeremy Sossie

given the current number of regional events out there, not sure that i would call 37 players small, but the field was most definitely strong. did you play bora?

I think the number was 35 but either way for the quality of event Zuglan puts on I think that is a small field. There were 3 or 4 locals that didn't show for some reason. One of them even calls Crown his home room. I thought about playing but didn't feel like donating. So instead I went and donated to Mohegan Sun.

Hatch Repeats on Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour

Gold Crown Billiards in New London, Connecticut, was the host room the weekend of November 10-11, 2007, for the latest Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour. This $2000 added event brought in a total field of thirty-five players, including such local favorites as Chuck Altomare, Jeremy Sossei, Joe Tucker, and Dennis Hatch.

The big story of the weekend ended up being Dennis Hatch yet again. In the last Joss event, Hatch ran through the field undefeated to take home first place honors this weekend was no different. Hatch sent Mike Dechaine to the one-loss side during the quarter finals with a score of 9-4, and then moved on to defeat Chuck Altomare 9-4 for the winner's side hot seat.

On the one-loss side, Mike Dechaine started his quest for the finals with Joe Tucker. Tucker was unable to hold off Dechaine in the end with a 9-7 loss. The next to step-up to attempt to stop Dechaine was Jeremy Sossei, but unfortunately the final was exactly the same after a tough battle, Sossei gave way to Dechaine 9-7. By the time Dechaine made his way to Chuck Altomare, he must have caught a gear as he finished off Altomare with a 9-0 conclusion.

This set-up the true double elimination final round with Dennis Hatch and one-loss side bracket winner Mike Dechaine. Unfortunately for Dechaine, there was no need for the second set as Hatch jumped into action steam rolling over him with a final score of 9-3.

The next tour stop, The 19th Annual Ocean State Championship, will be held at Snookers Pool Lounge in Providence, Rhode Island November 17th and 18th with play beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday. This $5000 added event will be a Banner Tournament meaning a permanent banner will feature the winner and hang from the rafters at Snookers. The races will be to nine, double elimination, with a $125 entry fee.

1st Dennis Hatch $1,350.00
2nd Mike Dechaine $950.00
3rd Chuck Altomare $750.00
4th Jeremy Sossie $550.00
5th John Ortiz $400.00
5th Joe Tucker $400.00
7th Jason Michas $200.00
7th Tristan Speedwell $200.00
