Well, I am most definitely going and am looking forward to it. I am truly amazed at the caliber of the players who are going to be competing for the $25,000-added Joss Tour Season Finale. When a tournament such as this fills up way in advance of the event, it speaks volumes. Everybody knows that there will be a level playing field, and the payouts are kind of sweet, too!
The Joss Tour, in my opinion, is one of the BEST-run in the country. I feel this way because I know for a fact that there is no favoritism and all players are treated equal, the way it is supposed to be. Because the tournaments during the season are held on a weekend, it is economically affordable and the best bang for the buck (IMO). Nobody gets a free ride, and the motto is may the best man/woman win.
BTW, Diana Hoppe is going to be there providing the tournament coverage. Whenever Diana is in the house, it's always a whole lot of fun. She is one of the most upbeat and positive pool folk in the industry, not to mention the fact that her pictures are priceless. She is able to capture the players' personality in a split second in all of her photographs.
Turning Stone Casino sells no alcohol, but you can bring your own. One can smoke cigarettes in designated areas, but as is customary, the tournament will be a no-smoking area. The hotel rooms are exquisite, and sleep, if you're fortunate enough to get some, is blissful. I really liked our hotel room, even though I didn't spend too much time there.
Here's a group shot taken in the hallway of the Turning Stone Casino. Cameras are a no-no in the game rooms, but you can snap away anywhere else in the buildings. There's Keith, Dennis Hatch's Uncle Mark, Ryan "Genie Man" McCreesh who came in second place at the last Joss Tour Turning Stone event, Sugar Shane from Pittsburgh, and a young kid we befriended who won the most money in his lifetime at the casino. He was so cute to watch counting his jellybeans with eyes as big as saucers. I'm sure all five members of this motley crew will be back!
