joss or predator

Can't go wrong with a Schmelke. Quality and service are wonderful and many different joints to choose from, therefore different hits.

This is silly. Would the cuemaker go on record publicly with this opinion? I was talking to one of the world's best cuemaker, and he said he wished he could make them as good as pechauer...see how easy that was.

In reality, hit and playability are subjective, and if you don't like them, it's perfectly ok. But as far as fit, finish, construction, and materials, i would put them equal to or on par with any cue I've ever hit with, custom or production

You didn't know that cuemakers are opinionated?
They even talk about each other the same way.

Let's see, I had a P-20 something, in the blue book, looks just like a nice traditional cool looking Schon.
Finally traded it for a $200 jump-break cue because it just played bad.
The cue flipped around Denver for a few years, several years later it turned up in our shop in the mountains, for a tip or something.
I was holding the cue and a pool room owner was over, looked at me and said "that cue plays like crap" I said "no shit".

The P-series measureman had played so bad there was nothing we could do to make it better.
The word "vague hit" was coined from that cue.
Don't get me started on those small flat faced pin Jp series pieces of junk.

It's not fair that people continually say "buy a Pechauer, same this as a Schon or Joss"
Someone may actually believe that and waste a bunch on money like I did.
The Pechauer finish is excellent, but there is something they do in construction & taper that is way off, and they hit has no life to it, "vague hit"
Just because Pechauer uses similar designs to Schon, and they look similar, the hit is completely different, and when you have cues that can't be turned up, then to me that's a bad brand.
We can tune up a Dale Perry and make it play good, but not a Pechauer.

I don't have a "Roadline", but I do have the Sport II, and several Joss cues. My experience is that if you like a softer hit then you might prefer the Predator, while the Joss will give you a firmer hit. I play with and love both; so, I doubt you'll be disappointed no matter what you order.

I don't know what to say mate...
I'm not trying to "bulldog" you. I was meerly pointing out that the OP at no time asked about Pechauer, and when you brought it up, I just wondered what your refrences for recomending Pechauer was.
One cue might not be the best way to judge a brand against another....
One cue? What is the finite number of cues needed to have owned or played with to express an OPINION? What is the finite number of years? Is it one cue less than YOU'VE owned or played with? Is it one less year than YOU'VE played to be qualified to opine? I'm done with this conversation, it's rude for us to do this on the OP's thread, I apologize to all. Best of rolls to you Kim Bye, Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!

These questions always seem to confuse me.

"I like x but...was looking at y, what do you think?" Does not make much sense to me unless there is more information.

Try it: "I like Mary but I was looking at Nancy." Any way you can help that person, even if you know Nancy and Mary?

You said you like Joss, but why?

You said you are considering a specific Predator, but why?

Have you considered a Joss with a Predator shaft?

.

I kinda like the thought of Mary and Nancy together. Maybe breaking with Nancy but playing with Mary or vice versa, but to have Mary and Nancy in the same game at the
same time would be alright.

As far as Predator and Joss, it really depends on who you ask. Personally, I'd much rather have an older Predator than just about anything else.
One of the really older ones with the 5/16 X 14 joint, the newer Predators I've never been terribly thrilled with, even the Revo, nice cue, pretty cue,
but I came to prefer wood to the carbon fiber.
Consider your budget also and what you're looking for. Do you want a cue with points and inlays, with pearl, and silver, or do you want a merry widow
type, or a Sneaky kind of design. If you like the bigger pin cues have you considered a McDermott? and are you looking for new specifically new, or
would you consider a used cue? As Doc said, you might look for a Joss you like if you can find one, then consider a Predator shaft.

Look bud, i get it. Your experience left you with a bad taste. I own two p series, and they are both very sweet hitting cues. I have talked to people who hate the hit of
A bushka... different strokes for different folks. Good luck with the dale perry thing

Enjoy those two P-series cues.
I'll go back to my Josswest cues, they're just like Pechauer you know.
