Just wanted to make a few comments about the Joss Tournament held last weekend at the casino. It certainly was a huge pleasure to have the opportunity to see world class pool players in a large tournament. I found the tournament uterly amazing and was pleased it was almost in my back yard. Congratulations go out to the Tourning Stone for supporting pool. Must have been very successful venture for the casino as I could not obtain a room. Even area motels were booked. Granted it was a long holiday weekend, but feel it was the tournament that booked the casino rooms. I thought the tournament was run very professionally. The players were congenial and displayed patients with some simple questions I had. I realize that there were a host of other backers of this event and I thank all of them for my ability to view professional pool in my back yard. A special thanks to Mike Zuglan and Joss Cues.

The event was exciting by itself, but added excitement for me as a once local pool player was in the final match.

Thanks to all that made that event possible. I hope another event will be forthcomming soon. You can bet I will obtain my lodging at the casino real early.

Hi, Mike! :) I've got that pic of you and James Tolkan, and I wanted to e-mail it to you. E-mail me with your e-mail address! :p

Here's a picture of James Tolkan practicing after the players meeting! Check out the space between each table. This was a dream venue for the players and spectators alike!

At the Turning Stone Casino, the security was in full force, and each and every one of them were friendly, unlike some other casinos I have been to.

It was easy to get lost in this place, as it was so big. This is the security guy who was watching the tournament room. I chatted with him on several occasions, and he said he enjoyed the tournament and gave me the impression that the casino was pleased with this turnout for the Joss event. He did say they may have more Joss events there in the future! :)

Believe it or not, the Turning Stone is still growing, and he said there will be more stores for shopping and games in the coming year. I especially enjoyed the main lobby where there were many waterfalls and large trees. The air was crisp and clean, just like being outside. :p

Here's a friend of Joe Tucker's from Snooker's in Providence, Rhode Island. He was filming many of the matches, to include the finals between Steve Tavernier and Ryan "Genie Man" McCreesh. I see him at quite a few of the Joss tournaments with his video camera in tow!

I have been seeing quite a few pool players wearing that Hustlin brand of clothing, the hats, T-shirts, and polo shirts. Here's a photo of Keith and "Spanish Pete," sporting the Hustlin brand!

Here's a great shot of Steve Tavernier and his lady, posing with Keith.

When I was at Snooker's last year attending a Joss tournament in Providence, Rhode Island, I was taking notes about the event. Dana Bufalo, a regular on the Joss Tour, lives in that region and provided me some helpful info. He pointed out Steve Tavernier and said to take notice of him, that he was a local player who plays topnotch pool. Keith ended up having to play Steve that weekend, and Steve beat him in front of his hometown crowd, which brought cheers and applause from the gallery. Steve also has a twin brother who plays, but not the speed of Steve.

Hi Jen,

On one of my recent visits to Snooker's, I walked over to Steve and invited him to our Classic Billiards Joss Stop. He looked at me with that "who the hell are you" look. I was somewhat taken back until he suddenly realized I thought he WAS Steve. It was his IDENTICAL twin brother whose name escapes me. Regardless, Steve will no longer be an "unknown". What a great guy.

Steve

It was great meeting you at the Turning Stone Casino, Steve! We had a really great time there. I definitely want to see that Baseball Hall of Fame, too. Thanks for your kind offer. With a nice basement game room. You are a lucky guy!

See you next time! :)

Will do Kid, But I haven't been to CM's in quite a while. Used to spectate at his Monday night tourneys. Plenty of talent, Steve Cook, Ray Martin, CM etc.. Actually CM's isn't in Tampa, it's in Pinellas Park, St. Petersburg across the bay.
