Joss west on Ebay????????

Yeah I saw that one too. If the guy is on the up & up, he has no clue as to what he really has.

Hope it is a joss west would like to know if it was one of those great pawn shop finds?
I'd be willing to bet it's a somewhat respectable knock-off. First thing I noticed was the wrap...which seems to have been finished over (like a Meucci). For an original cue that could use a refinish, it's mighty shiny! (Mr. Stroud didn't do this type of thing, correct?)

Nice looking cue, but probably too good to be anywhere near true.

Or perhaps it's just wishful thinking...knowing the cue will probably sell for a high amount anyway.

I asked him about that and just got his answer:

"IT HAS FINISH ON THE WRAP."

Look at the joint. The stiching looks nothing like what Joss or Josswest looked like from that era. My guess is it is a Adam's, Helmstetter of somekind or could be a Rich.

I have a quetion about Josswest too! Now that he is working with students at a Technical College in Texas. Are students doing some of the work on his newer cues?

Bugs.

Is it just me, or the crappy picture, or is the "supposed" JW logo upside down or possibly 90 off?? Sure doesn't look right. And, what camera won't focus for a closeup picture??

Also notice the spacing of the windows in the sleeve - closer to the handle than the buttcap. Not Josswest symmetry IMHO.

I have seen cues like the one pictured above, they run about $69.99 at the local sporting goods store. I thought that Joss used Delrin buttcaps back then anyways.

Something funny about the whole thing.
Totally agree! And, (again, for an old "original" cue), the JW seems incredibly well preserved. I've never seen a 70's JossWest that held up so well on the buttcap, but didn't stay in good shape everywhere else. The initials in the cap always seemed to fade BEFORE anything else.

Definitely fishy!!!

Could be a fake. Doesn't look like JW to me in my non expert opinion. However, I think a few early meuccis had stainless joints and have seen one that did that I was told was a meucci. The logo I dunno about and it isn't clear int he pics..

I wrote the guy telling him I didn't think it was a Josswest and I got this rather defensive answer back

"I NO NOTHING ABOUT THESE OLD CUES, THIS IS WHY I PLAINLY LISTED IT AS UNKNOWN CUE. I HAVE HOWEVER BEEN TOLD BY SEVERAL PEOPLE ITS A JOSSWEST. I BEEN TOLD BY YOU AND ONE OTHER THAT IT IS NOT. UNTILL I LISTED THIS I DID NOT KNOW WHAT A JOSSWEST WAS. I'M SIMPLY LETTING PEOPLE USE THIER OWN JUDGEMENT. MY DESRIPTION IS ACCURATE. EVERYTHING ELSE IS HEARSAY."

But I also see one well known bidder has bid on it, for whatever that's worth.

I also notice that he is not putting the mails he gets that say it's not a Josswest or the question about the wrap.

e-mail Bill?

Does anyone has Bills email address. His website will not accept emails?

This is the only way to clear this up.

It looks like this guy is only posting positive emails that it is a JW? Of all the Joss's and Josswest’s; that I have seen from that era this looks very much like a CLONE of a Joss. Anyone got a handy Cue Encyclopedia?

My guess the high bidder on this is going to get a big surprise!

Bugs.

I just wrote the guy, too. Tried my best to be polite while explaining the reasons this cue may be suspect...and urged him to add some of the "It's Not A JW" comments into the listing as well...just to be fair to the bidders. We'll see...but I'm not expecting much.

It's not that it's a bad looking cue...and it could be that he really did get "taken" by the guy that sold it to him....but either way, his decent feedback rating may take a hit when the new owner finds the "Made in Taiwan" stamp on it!!!

Something is for sure not right. Look at this Q&A

Q: i would be willing to go 1200.00 money order or paypal. I am interested in the weight and shaft size. possibly u could take a closeup of the logo on the butt thank you for your time
Feb-17-06

A: I WILL END THE AUCTION EARLY FOR $1200, I CAN GIVE YOU AN APPROXIMATE WIEGHT AND SHAFT DIAMETER. I DROPPED MY CAMERA THE OTHER DAY, THE AUTO FOCUS IS STUCK. THE PICTURES ARE AS CLOSE AS I CAN GET, WITHOUT BEING VERY VERY BLURRY. SHAFT IS 12.8MM AND THE WIEGHT IS AROUND 20 OUNCES. I WILL TELL YOU THAT THE RUBBER BUMPER IS MISSING. EVERYTHING ELSE IS INTACT.

For $1,200 I think he could afford to go buy a cheap camera.

PLUS he says in one of his answers....

"I OWN A PAWNSHOP".

He owns a pawnshop but he doesn't have any cameras that work??????

....and the plot thickens!!!!! No response to my suggestions about putting some of the "possible negatives" in the auction, either.

Just not right!!!

I feel bad for the guy who's gonna shell out the 1200.00. There goes a nice chunk of tax return funds!
