The 2024 Dutch Masters winner and 2005 World Championship runner-up Jean Paul de Bruijn has made a run of 26 in the Belgian League. His monumental effort came in the second inning, and he won the match 40-19 in 13. Only eight runs (documented, refereed) of 26 had been made in history, three of those by Eddy Merckx! Other 26'ers: Jaspers, Sung Won Choi, de Backer (final inning), Blomdahl and Jae Ho Cho. Three runs of 27 have been made, by van Kuijk, Carlsen and Caudron. The world record of 28 is shared by Junichi Komori (1993), Raymond Ceulemans (1998), Roland Forthomme (2012), Frederic Caudron (2013) and Jun Tae Kim (2024).

Amazing.

What a great post...first I've heard of the 26 club and damn, Merckx three times?

So many amazing runs referenced in this post but the one that interests me most is de Backer running a 26 in a final inning. I've never heard of anyone shooting after scoring the last point so I assume he just stopped playing which kills me for some reason.

I thought the 19th point was super - 20th impressive too!

Your assumption is accurate. Shooter's inning (run) does end after last point is scored.

This is how JT Kim was denied the opportunity to run over 28: he did not miss.

Jun Tae Kim’s 28 last year was 28-and-out. He was at CC on Thursday for a one-day tournament (which he won), so I got to congratulate him. You cannot continue shooting, so he never got the chance to break the world record. Better to be in the “28 Club” than in Rock and Rolls” 27 Club!
