There is more relevance on a snooker table where balls travel in different relationships based on the direction of nap.
Direction of spin relative to the flow of the nap, cause different drift when the leading edge of the spinning ball is spinning with or against the nap direction.
Against the nap rotation also slows the cue ball more than with the nap and is pace sensitive.
