Jump break under $200

I am looking for a jump break cue for under $200. I don't want a Cutec and the only cue under 140 I am considering is a J&J. I am waffling on whether to spend the extra $100+ over what the J&J ones sell for. If I could get a measurably better cue I would do it. I am leaning towards a Fury, and could be talked into a Poison, Sniper II, McD Stinger, or even one of the cheaper Lucasi's, but are anyone of them really that good? If not Id rather get the J&J off ebay (anyone know why they are so much cheaper on Ebay - there can't be any money in conterfeiting $75 cues can there?), and buy a Gulyassy in a few years.

So what's the prevailing wisdom? Get a good cue for $150-200 or put the extra $100 in the custom playing cue savings account. After all I've only owned 1 cue other than my first players and its a Predator P2 with a leather grip. If the extra $100 isn't gonna get me much difference, I'd like to add a 2nd playing cue since it would take my game further (middle of the pack BCA open B player for reference) especially being 6'5" I might try a longer cue or 30" shaft. But if 150-200 jump break cue will make a difference which one is the best bet?

you can get J&J jump break cues from members on here for about $65 shipped if I recall. They just get marked up too much in many shops. I think i saw them for $130 at my local billiard shop.

I have hit with the lucasi that you can get from www.azbmarketplace.com for $183 i think. It jumps and breaks great. I have heard very good things about the poison and would look into that too. on AZ Marketplace you can see different color options whether you want, pink, green, orange, or black.

I dont think you can go wrong either way. If you post this in the wanted/for sale section you will get a ton of pm's and replies to your thread.

good luck.

Take a look at the Stealth AT-1, designed by Ned Morris. I think they normally go for $99, last year at Valley Forge they were being promoted out the door at $65.

my brother has a vx 2.9 poison jump break. it makes jumping so easy it's almost unfair. make sure whatever league or tournies you play in allow phenolic tips though.

Sniper II by Concept Cues is the best PRODUCTION break jump cue I have ever used (and I've used a lot). I've bought the Fury and wasn't too happy with it.

Find a used Jerico stinger if you can.

absolutely, for the range your in imo best forgiving but can be an arsenal in your bag is the sniper concept 2 or original... very strong break n jump and once u hone in.on the cue very good with position n jumping with position.
NOW, unless you want to spend 500 or more or less its not worth the money, lomax, original sledgehammer n even CAM are worth extra money, imho and lomax is the way to go if you're investing $$$. that said, the suggestion above to find used jerico stinger, patented isthe way to go. get at fair price, plays great n will see big ddifference. original patented jerico stingers are great jb for the money... take time to.find one, b worth it. goodluck.

Dont know if you'd be interested, but i have a Robin dodson jump cue. I dont really need it, and its just taking up space. It comes with two shafts, you can look it up on muellers. id take 40 shipped. Great shape. pm if u need pics.

J&J is hard to beat for the money

I use a Kaiser ( Upscaled J&J) J/B and it breaks a ton , jumps pretty well if you know how to jump . Breaking i will put it up against any production break cue out there and it costs a whopping 60 dollars shipped from www.jjcue.com . I have used a better jump que but in truth unless you already comfortable with Jumping you wont jump any better with a 200 dollar jump que than you will with a 40 dollar jump que IMO. Just up to you how much you want to spend. if your on a tight buget J&J is the way to go you get alot of bang for not alot of money.

Personally i would put the extra cash in my Playing que fund , but thats just me. Try as many as you can and find the one that feels best to you. You may be suprised at the one you find that fits you. Remember more expensive does not always equate to better for your game As they like to say on here its the Archer not the arrow

I had a J&J jb that really did a nice job. Good friend really liked the cue, sold it to him and ordered a Players jb and had a samsari tip put on it. I break better with a house cue now. Live and learn.
