jump cue is gone!

tonite i was at the poolhall playing with a friend and he left me a easy jump shot hanging in the pocket and he was like what are you gonna do now kick it in and run out? i said nope jump it and run out. anyways long story short

i went to get my jump stick and it wasnt in my case. so i apparently left it at the poolhall when i was leaving the other nite.

i asked around and the cook of the poolhall they cook burgers told me she saw a kid using it the nite before.

So now im just waiting to see the kid using it so i can confront them about it. keep in mind i am one of the only 4 locals that have a jump stick in this town, so it will be easily identifiable.

i might buy a new one if mine doesnt turn up but i guess i just learned a $130 lesson.

If you're in a small enough town, you might try talking to his mom or dad. It'd be a good time for a young'un to learn the value of honesty and dignity. If his parents found a way to "become aware" of the cue and talked to him about finding the rightful owner, maybe the kid could come away feeling like he did a bad thing that worked itself out and became a good thing. Even if he screwed up the cue, it might be a good time for him to learn the value of a sincere apology and maybe doing something to repay you for the money he cost you. Depending on his age, he might or might not be able to really repay you, but the act of trying is what matters most, when they're little and the seriousness of being caught and having to do the right thing is what matters most for the older ones. There are lots of good things he could learn from the experience.

I try. I think the kids of today could use more true guidance by adults who are using their brains to think of good ways to guide them. Even the judges don't seem to have any imagination, anymore. Just cut and dried punishments. I think the punishment should fit the crime and when kids are involved, there are different punishments for the age and even for the child. I hope the jump cue gets returned and in good shape, too.
 
That sucks.

Atleast the kid didn't steal it from you, right? Maybe approach the kid and ask him where he got it. He could just be using it and waiting for someone to say who's cue it is. Either way it's not right that he didn't turn it in.

Hopefully you get it back before it goes on Ebay.

is it that sooner upbringing and thinking coming out of ya!!!!!????the kid might of found it and was looking for who lost it!!!!

Exactly why I suggested he should go to the mom or dad and talk to them about it. They can determine what happened and go from there. Regardless of his intentions, if he took the cue home instead of turning it in, there are probably some good lessons that the incident could be used to help him learn.

Again, I hope the cue is found and returned unharmed.
 
When I read the thread title I thought you were getting rid of your jump cue! :)

I got it back

well thanks for everyone posting advice and it was a jacoby jump cue which i bought couple yrs ago. I was at the poolhall and my buddy shows up today with my jump cue in the same condition. he told me he was at the poolhall after i had left and saw it laying on the table where i apparently left it, put it up for me. so i bought him lunch.

its good to know that there are still good friends in this world.

Hell yeah, good news. On my birthday, I left a Tissot T-Race watch at the poolroom on the table. It must've fallen out of my case. Someone turned it in. Retail in the $500 range. WHEEEWWW.
 
Good to hear you got it back. I had a cheap break/jump cue last year, it was an Aska or something. I left it at the poolhall by mistake and came in the next day, I didnt even know I left it there. The owner said someone turned it in that morning. He handed it to me and it was missing the phenolic tip/ferrule. The guy who left it in said he thought it was just a shit cue someone lost and he didnt want the whole thing, just the tip so he took it off and turned in the cue. The owner said he got the guy to pay for a new cue and gave me the cash. The guy who did it never came back. I always wondered how he got the money.

Great News C!

I left my entire case at the pool hall at my last monthly tournament! I got busy loading all my other equipment and left it leaning on the wall. A man named Clay saw it and had the pool hall put it in the office. Clay is out of work and living day to day. I spotted him a little jelly for his honesty. It made his day too!
