Statton - Can we bet all we want?

I've got $1000 that says it ain't happening, and you get 3 tries (just as you described the shot).

ya know, a simple "ok guys, i was bullshitting" will make this go away.

you said "bring your money"........well, i've got plenty, and it looks like quite a few other people might too.

so where's YOUR money??? since you know you can do it, you've got the nuts anyway.........

a jumper of his caliber couldnt refuse a bet like this. after all, hes the great Matt Staton!

I would bet on the other side of this one. Jumping a ball a chalk widths or slightly less away, is not all that difficult, and it will have revers spin naturally, the only part that is hard to believe is the accuracy. If you ever see Ned Morris with a stealth jump cue with extension in his hand, ask him to demonstrate how it works.... He has some pretty crazy jump shots in his bag. His daughter is even better. She was doing jump shots a Credit Card width away, clearing the ball no problem, but couldn't get the CB to roll after, it always backed up. Then Tom Rossman came along, and taught 4 of us in 5 minutes the EASY way of jumping a ball a credit card width away, AND making it roll. If anyone wants to bet me 5 try's credit card width away from the OB and 2 foot rollout after landing I'll put a $20 on it. It has to be with a shaft only though, its not possible any other way. Its possible to get over with a Full Length jump cue, but its quite a bit harder and its impossible to make it roll out. If anyone would rather know how its done rather than bet on it, say so and I'll explain.

I have no problem clearing balls, but in games i prefer to kick, because my jump accuracy sucks. I am not bragging about jump ability here, just saying its not as hard as people may think.

I got a hundred I wouldn't mind wasting to see such a jump shot...

I got 20 for the credit card shot too....but someone has to get my airfare to bc..

LOL I was just stating that I could jump a chalk widths apart or a little less pretty easey and that I have jumped over a ball and drew it back 2 ft pretty easey. Jeez every ones getts to excited it's not that hard and why would i bet on some thing if i could not do it da ever try a flying eagle jump cue you try one then let me know how good all ya jump My girl freind can and has jumped 8 out of ten. I justllike jump shots and the stealth jump cue also works awsome andit has a leather tip.

HEy dick I am right here do ya realy think I would bet on it if I could not do it!!!

oh hey, he finally responds after two weeks........finally found your nuts huh?

ok, where are you? i'll make sure the next time i'm out your way, i'll look you up.

less than a chalks width huh? ok, i'll set the ball up almost frozen, with the ball you are going to pocket about 4-5 feet away, and let you jump and pocket the ball, AND draw it back at least 2 feet.

you're full of shit on this one. you can't win.

2 Jump shots stick in my mind ...

I have seen some pretty good jump shots, but 2 stick in my mind....

First, was years and years ago, when David Matlock was making a name
for himself, and was in from Western Missouri. He played Jr. Brown here
a race to 7 for $700. I might add that Jr. got 1 shot the whole set, which
he missed because David was tearing up the table. Anyway, David was
about a diamond and a half from the corner pocket with the cue just off
the long rail and behind another ball 1/2" apart. He used a regular cue,
straight up and down and jumped the ball, made the 2 in the side and
drew the cue back 6" for perfect shape on the 3 in the corner. The fact
that the balls were only 1/2" apart was enough, but he did it with a
regular cue and got perfect shape on the 3 make it so spectacular.

P.S. I asked David one time when he was here at Rumors for a tournament
how many bar box 9 ball racks he had run, and he said he had run 28 in a row
before. And I personally watched him run 9 big table racks in a row in
a 7 man ring game before, for $10 a man.

Second, Down at Burke's Steakhouse years ago, David Hendricks (in OKC
now) was playing a guy with the cue almost to the center diamond and just off the long rail, jumped over a ball and backcut a ball about 5" past the side pocket into the upper left corner, and the cueball went to the right hand long rail above the sidepocket and drew it off the rail with spin down to the corner pocket below where the cueball started out for shape on the 4 ball.
What was amazing was the fact he could get so much english on the cue
after jumping and making the shot.

These 2 jump shots have always just 'stuck' in my mind.
