Jump cues

Hey Guys,

I'm new to the forum and I have a question about jump cues. Is a three piece cue necesarry ( two piece for short jumps and three piece for the longer jumps), it seems to make sense on paper? Has anyone tried/use the predator air jump cue, I don't see much for reviews on it. Any other suggestions for jump cues?

Thanks,

Corey

jump cues

my personal favorite jumper is a canon jump/break 3-piece & it does good work. it has a g-10 solid tip & ferrule. just like you said i use the 2 piece for short jumps & 3 for long jumps & breaks. it makes a very loud crack when you break with it & the rack just explodes. good cue ball control too!

Rat Jump Cues

I LOVE my Rat jump cue I have it make 3 piece and it is the best I have ever used! I have had the Air and I liked the jump but I was not making balls, and I have had and use about 15 others, the Rat is the best, Ryan makes a great jumping cue

First of all, welcome to the boards. As far as jumpers go, If you're just starting out, there isn't anything wrong with a action jump/break. Not having owned a predator air, I can not speak to them. I have jumped a few balls with them, there neat, but I wasn't overly impressed. I figure that if you need the extra short bit for jump cue, you shouldn't be jumping over that ball anyway. I do have a custom made jump/break that I carry, a Sean Huckelberry, local guy in Oklahoma City. I had one made to be a ringer for my playing cue, just thought it would be cool to have a matched set.
just my $0.02

the predator air is too light imo. the old jerico stingers were the best jump cues on the market. they broke decent too!

Go with the Larry miller jump cue those things are amazing any body can jump with them it's like cheating You can find him on here as killer miller of you can pm me and I can set you up with one

Longer handles make longer jumps easier for me. I often do long jumps with a full cue, feel like I get better control.

I did try out a old frog (or was it tadpole) jump cue the other day, thing jumped good both short and long. I use a little lucasi jump cue for short jumps, and it works just fine. I have done jumps with less than a chalk width with it while gambling. Can't always make them, but enough I'm confident enough to try.

Depends on what you want to carry in your case

Have tried some already:

For the Break&Jump variations (custom: Gulyassy, Stinger, xbreaker, Mace from Rick Howard and production: Mcdermott, Cuetec, Fury, Poison etc.) my preference goes to the Jerico Stinger for the easiest and most accurate jump and to the Gulyassy for breaking power and accuracy.

For Jump only had a Bunjee, Mezz, Predator, Jacoby and Lomax.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind there : Lomax is outclassing every other Jump only or B&J cue for jumping with ease and accuracy.

You may find several posts about Steve's cues on the main Forum :

Personaly I prefer using a break only cue with a hard tip leather (Samsara) type OB Breaker or Mezz Power Break (the first version is just pefect to me, no need to spend a few hundreds more for the latest evolutions) and a dedicated Jump cue but as usual it's very personal.
