I hear people say that jump cues should not be allowed. Why is that? I believe that it is from players that don't have jump cues and have likely never learned to jump well. In addition, I think that it is from players that don't think to or know how to play a safety that will not allow someone to be successful using a jump cue. Personally, I like them. I can jump quite well and have all of the confidence that I will hit a ball and in fact my intent is typically not just to make the object ball but either play safe or get shape on my next shot. It is definitely a needed skill set in the one foul ball in hand environment. I am able to kick balls too and also look to pocket a ball or get safe after making a good hit. That is equally as important as being able to shoot a jump shot. To me it is the same as the players saying...playing safe should not be allowed.
