Jump RODS

many don't jump properly and ruin the cloth. unfortunately.

good thing you can't jump in one pocket. and if a place keeps tables for that and straight pool those tables are always the best ones for some strange reason.

There was a time when several pool halls in town had special areas with nice tables. You had to prove you knew how to treat equipment before you could use those. All strangers started on the beat up and banged up equipment. I was given the side eye as a youngster when I asked for a table in these areas. Didn't take long to get on the nice tables and it was appreciated that these were well taken care of.

Yankee Doodles on the Promenade. Not a players’ room (there were plenty others in the 90s), but it was closest to me and the owner’s daughter was a friend of Vivian Villarreal, so I got to play with her whenever she came through.

Ok. Never heard of it but I was long gone anyway. Probably Mr Pockets too. Corner of Wilshire and Santa Monica or whatever the ocean drive was called.

CF cloth would solve that. They'd have to claim chipped slate or something.

Yankee Doodles! I could never remember the name of that place. My buddies and I would ride motorcycles down to Venice Beach and around Santa Monica in the mid-90s, and would pub crawl down there. I never played there, but did like that they had a 9-ball challenge table, which I would usually see being run by a short woman with curly hair, and she mostly won the games I watched--no idea who she was.

I also recall seeing a guy who used a wheelchair, who had a custom, extra-long cue, and he used it to shoot underhanded--similar to a dart stroke, but sitting down with the cue close to level.

I just googled, and saw they had a fire in summer of 2013, and it doesn't look like they ever returned. :(

Mighta been the owner’s daughter - don’t remember her name. Played OK, but she was no Vivian.

At this point is many.. I don’t see anyone trying to jump by scooping anymore. Pretty common knowledge how to properly jump at this point.
