Phenolic tips on Jump sticks seem to jump better than leather tips,
but do you think a little accuracy is lost with phenolic tips as opposed
to a hard leather tip?

i'm kinda in the middle. my jump cue has a brass ferrule with a regular size phenolic tip. what i mean by that is that its the exact same size as a leather tip, but phenolic. it has maybe a little higher arc than a nickel and it gets the cue up faster and controls the cue ball just as well as a leather tip.

the sledgehammer type phenolic tip/ferrule combo IMO reduce the amount of control.

My jumper has tht phenolic tip on it and I can put the shaft from my playing cue on it. No contest, the phenolic opens up a world of jumping possibilities that are not available w/ my regular tip (Tiger med or hard, dep on shaft). I had trouble with control at first, but thru practice, gotten used to it.
Edit: I don't have the SLedgehammer type tho. also, I didn't vote coz neither option seemed right!

I think I am learning that it is good to have both. Some leagues do not allow jump cues.

In the future, I plan to have a break/jump cue with a nickel shaped Tiger break/jump tip. And also carry around a Bunjee jump cue with a dime shaped phenolic tip.

With the break/jump cue, I would use the non-dart or regular? method of jumping.

With the Bunjee/phenolic, I would use the dart method.

Then may the most accurate method of jumping win... (with time and experience)

I used to have a Sledge, now I use a Jerrico Stinger. The Sledge hit a TON but gave up some accuracy. The Stinger hits almost as hard, but is lots more accurate on the break without as many miscues. Jumping is about the same (I'm not a good jumper...working on it for a while now...). :p
