Jumping Ball Strategies

I think that if I had to bet I'd have to take Shawn Putnam as the best jump-shot player in the country right now. I think Shawn could give anyone all they wanted with the jump and the full cue.

I was thinking the same thing but because I don't make it to a lot of tournaments, I wasn't going to chime in. Anyone that saw his performance in VF would have to think that he's one of the best out there. I was talking to Brandon Ashcraft during the finals about Shawn's jumping capabilities and discovered that VF wasn't the first time Shawn has made a name for himself when it comes to jumping balls. To quote Brandon, the match between he & Shawn in Glass City was a "jump fest" in which Brandon was on the losing end.

Jeff - The BCA rule that covers this is:
1.3 - USE OF EQUIPMENT
Players may not use equipment or accessory items for purposes or in a manner other than those for which the items were intended (refer to rules 3.42 and 3.43). For example, powder containers, chalk cubes, etc., may not be used to prop up a mechanical bridge (or natural hand bridge); no more than two mechanical bridges may be used at one time, nor may they be used to support anything other than the cue shaft. Extra or out-of-play balls may not be used by players to check clearance or for any other reason (except to lag for break); the triangle may be employed to ascertain whether a ball is in the rack when a match is unofficiated and the table has not been pencil marked around the triangle area. Thank you...I'm not sure how I missed that.

Now, I think I'll invent a mechanical bridge that solves this mid-table jumping problem.
