Shannon Daulton is one of the best at doing this in 1pocket. There are a number of stories of him doing it in gambling matches and in tournaments. In the Eddie Robins books there is a shot or two that illustrates his creativity in this.
Another application of the jump shot in 1p that I have seen in person is when the person is cutting his ball into corner from below the stack. Instead of going into the bottom/side of the stack and risking getting stuck against balls there, I saw a player at the derby elevate and jump the cueball off of his ball, making the ball and bouncing up and into the middle of the stack. The balls spread and he had a shot and ran out. It might have been Nevel I saw do this. I cant remember now, those DCC nights at the old louisville hotel were kind of a blur after the third day of very little sleep.
