in general the dart method is harder to aim correctly unless your a giant or nephelem lol.....dart stroke is in my opinion for close quarters and not distant shots......
obviously i feel the opposite on a typical jump shot stroke.....easier to aim unless your names willow and you know mad martagin
I'm horrible at the dart stroke and if everyone wants a good laugh i'll film myself trying to shaft jump I got hops doing that like a leg less sumo wrestler to be honest, but i dont own nor play with a jump cue...i did just build a masse cue.....i kick pretty dam well and on a real close one, to me my odds are better kicking if its very very close, especially if aim is just to hit ball and get a possible safe.......i do kick balls in that lie in center of table, and I can catch sides or pieces of the ball.....but dont get me wrong I'm no effren reyes by any means...
but you give me a 50/50 chance of doing something.... the odds are usually 80/20 in my favor......
ohhhhhhh wrap you head around that math lol.
The dart stroke cant generate nearly as much power, and just because of how the motion lies it doesn't lend itself well for low jumps for length you would stand extremely goofey.
sort of like the guy other day who told a student of mine that he should hole his forearm vertical for the stroke hand when using a bridge.....i told him thats completely preposterous.
That would work just fine if your wanting to be jacked up do stop or draw.....but what about if you want to follow the ball and make the CB run.....you going to get on your knees so you can get your elbow under the top of the table to get your cue level????
HELLLLLLLL nooooo lol.........so You shoot with a bridge with the forearm PARALEL to the ground....every shot is possible from said position high low too and fro.
Its like anything apply a little deductive reasoning wether you def know answer or not....run a test.....most peoople can figure lots of these things out by with trial tests and an attentive mind.
You want to play better? Develop a better thinking process and PSR. Never think when your down, only when your are up and preferably when your standing back from the table looking at the layout or shot...a place Mr. Lee Brett calls OUTSIDE the box......we only visualize and shoot INSIDE the box. And i like that idea its very easy for people to understand.
Not unlike baseball....you aint got time or any reason to be thinking about what your fixing to do once your in the batters box and that balls a coming......your subconscious handles all that and no matter how good anyone thinks they are.....its not their conscious self really doing the work if they are skilled and successful.
sorry for side bar but imop i found linkage b/t your question and the bridge technique thing.
Oh and even with the jump shots....slow is smooth....smooth is fast.
It always feels more of a accomplishment when jumping with a full cue, as life was intended lol.......at the Mardi Gras Open I smashed a beautiful jump on the 10 foot with quite a few top players giveing the tap tap tap.....it was nasty too....when it left the table it looked like a harrier jet...got up, then WOOSH STRAIGHT BEE LINE, full perfect hit on OB, OB does exact same thing...leaves table little more than half distance to pockeet, never touches bed again and just smashed inot the back of the corner pocket......
they loved it, i almost died a happy man at 31....it was a good day.
best wises,
