6 or so years ago during a Junior Nationals trip that was in U of Illinois, the guy running the junior league in our area (New England) was in the airport and a 15 yr old kid was looking around for him. Seems his parents sent him to the tournament by himself and just told him to find Roy Pastor. He did not know how to get to the area where the event took place and he had to catch a ride with the rest in a van and was hanging out with basically random adults while there. This prompted a change for the BEF to have a chaperone for all the players.

Fast forward to now, Roy gets contacted by a college student that goes to Harvard, it's that same kid that had to find him in Illinois. He started a inter-college league pool program with Harvard, MIT, BU, BC (I think those were the schools, as I said, it's not my story LOL), and was looking to get some lessons for the league players. We are going this Saturday with my son to meet them, looking forward to seeing how these college kids play and how they do the league. Plus it will be a good thing for my son to chat with them since he's 17 and is looking at college himself soon.

Based on the schools you mentioned all players involved should all(hopefully,anyway) get good jobs to pay for their pool habit. Bet some of those brainiacs would make good one-hole players.

Some pictures from the day of lessons for the college pool clubs, some were good players, some where not, but all listened very well and followed instruction even when they were advanced players and were doing basic drills.

Just as a side comment, these were kids from MIT, Harvard, a few other good schools, and the majority were asian. Under 6% of US is asian, yet this representation (granted small) is about 75% asian. Does not bode well for the american kids for education, or liking pool and shows how other cultures place education as a high priority. I wish as a country we placed more effort on getting our kids in shape to gain discipline and effort instead of turning them into snowflakes.
