Just a thought for a good pool movie.

How about a simple documentary about DCC and players preparation for the event. Maybe show a few guys on the road for a few weeks leading up to the event. Something similar to Pumping Iron, that movie did wonders for bodybuilding. Pool would benefit from something like that, something that showed the true grit and character of pool and its participants.

That's a great idea for a remake, hope you cut down on the weird mellow drama in the middle with that chick. I'd love to see a new pool movie

WoW....I just logged on to see if there was any talk of the new movie being done by Mainstreet Products "9ball" staring Jennifer Barretta....and low and behold....

I want to plug this movie....

I've read the full script and I love the concept. What our sport needs is for the public to realize that pool isn't the 'backroom' sport it used to be just as what's portrayed in the Hustler and Color of Money. People need to realize that there is more to the sport than smoke filled bars filled with gambling and people beatin the crap out of each other when they get hustled.

Although, we all know that there are some pretty high stake backroom matches...to promote the sport we need the atmosphere of positive influence and getting people 'off' the street an into the 'friendly' competitive side of it.

I know, I know...reality can be a little different, but if we want to change things for the better with all the smoking bans and whatnot we need to promote a different atmosphere. What do they say? ..."Continure doing what you've always done and you continue to get what you've always got." There shutting us down left and right because of the smoking issue...now it's time to promote our sport in a different light.

I agree... people want to see blood guts sex and glory...but...what if we took a sexy woman who has lived around the blood, gave her guts and she broke out and into fame and glory...Think that might work?? Plus, it will appeal to a broad audience which is exaclty what we need.

Thats just what 9ball the movie is all about. I encourage you to check it out at http://mainstreetproductions.com/9ball.htm

Now, I realize that Tony has been working on this for some time now and some people think that it will never happen...I happen to disagree and so do a lot of other big names in the business.

I just spent about an hour talking with Tony and I'm over here in Europe promoting the hell out of this movie...I'd like to ask that anyone who has 'contacts' that would help out the movie to give Tony a shout.

As we gather contacts and different billiard stars from different countries to appear in the movie we're looking at an "International" release when it does finally come out. If we can get international coverage than we can pull in a 'recognized star' to be involved.....

Thanks for taking the time to read....

Doug

Yes yes yes yes yes. This is the only good suggestion I have ever read on any of these "pool movie" threads. I can't believe I hadn't thought or heard this before.

Just like the Hustler, this movie would be about a man and his demons and not the game. Love it!

Harold Worst bio would be a good one.

I could

see a 1/2 hour comedy about a Pool league team. It would show them playing, and also other parts of their lives. Could be pretty funny.

How about a sexy woman wanting to be a champion, starting out in the old Pool rooms working her way up. One catch, she has to screw everyone she loses to. She works hard to become a champion and not to demoralize herself anymore, but when she wins the championship, she realizes she has lost her soul.

How about a murder mystery of a backer that is killed, and the story goes through countless players he backed trying to solve the murder. A deep twisted plot.

And believe it or not, we had a 20 year old guy that got caught porking a Rottweiler here .... an ex-girlfriend caught him in the garage.....

a 1 hour reality show like someone said earlier, that would be awesome.
follow real action in a real pool hall and meet the real charactars that you only see in a poolhall. theyve got a reality show for everything else nowadays why not pool?
