Just bought a Cue Looking For Input

Not a bad choice for a first decent cue. A great upgrade from the graphite. McDermott makes nice cues too. There are only 3 production companies that I would consider buying cues from, Joss, Mcdermott and Predator.

However, I am too into customs to go back to production stuff.

Good choice.

I don't understand questions like yours. If you bought the cue, you must like it. What difference does it make if others say it's good or bad?

If someone says it's a lousy cue, will it play less well than when you selected it? Will it be less appealing? Accordingly, if someone says those cues tend to warp, will you never again trust its trueness? The fact of the matter is, you picked it out for you to play with. For as long as you own it, that's all that matters. Only when you sell it should you hope others like it.

Nice cue to learn the game with, I'm sure you'll be satisfied with it. I personally would have purchased this cue from the Competitor series as they are $20 cheaper and don't have any Leprechaun graphics.

I noticed you went from wanting to give up pool forever to buying a new cue in less than 48 hours. You also wanted to break up with your girlfriend cause you thought shs's a B***H, did you two elope yesterday?.

My head is spinning.

I'm making light of the fact that you're all over the place and that you seem to go out of your way in seeking approval from other forum members. Ted's right, once you've purchased the cue, what kind of feedback do you really require?. Usually people ask for feedback BEFORE they order something. Usually people don't dump their girlfriend at the advice of an anonymous web poster.

As for being mean, well, I'm a genuine jerk.

Cue

Put on a tip you are comfortable playing with and it'll play as good as anything...barring any strange unforseen factory defects.

Also, dumping your girl might have been extreme. You should have just laid down the law a little.

My wife started stomping on my fun time a little so I decided I was going to "lay down the law"...I asked her if I could borrow my balls for a minute ("to lay down the law") and she promptly said no and cinched her purse. I should have seen that coming. It's too late for me, I'm going to have to find another angle...but it could still work for you.

Pool

If you plan on getting seriuos about playing pool it is better that you have dumped her now. You will become addicted to this game and will have no time for a girlfriend anyway. Once you are hooked and spend no time with her she would have dumped you. So you have saved yourself some pain and have now freed up more time for what should become a new addiction. Best of luck with your new cue and soon to be new love(pool).

Some words of wisdom/opions from a fellow kentuckian:

1. Dont order a cue online or buy a cue unless you have played with one before. Do the research

2. Who cares what other people think about your cue...if you like it, then go with it.

3. Dont sell your life out for pool...try to not let the love of pool get in the way of life decsions such as a relationship with a female.

4. You will always have problems with girls and pool unless you find a girl that loves pool. That is pretty much a fact of life.

5. Custom built sneaky petes play a lot better than production cues.

6. Klopek was not being mean...he was being honest. Dont ask questions unless you want honest answers. (In my opinion, the cue you bought was a bad bad move. McD's are overpriced especially if you never played with it. Klopek is also right about the girl. One day you want to give up pool and the next day you buy a new cue. Gimme a break. Your young. Youll figure it out.)

7. Dont post on this board if you have a thin skin...people are gonna say stuff you dont like...deal with it.

mcdermott cue

no matter what you play with, you will get used to it and play your best with it. One simple fact.....when Efren Reyes was winning alot of tournaments, he was playing with a $12.00 cue from the phillipines. Earl has won many tournaments with a cuetec cue as same as Allison Fisher.

i dont have thin skin i can take what people throw at me i moved on the cue because its suppose to be a good brand and i played with one at our pool hall one time and i kinda liked it i just wanted to know what people thought about it (their experiences with a McDermott) not what they thought about the fact i bought it i've already spoken to klopec in private and he seems to be a good guy that knows alot

but this forum in my oppinion is here to help me and all of us with pool so i can actually ask anything i want there is even a forum for NON POOL RELATED TOPICS on a POOL FORUM so i appreciate ALL of your alls input and look forward to me posting alot and being an active member on this forum

Since you asked.....McDermott Cues are too thick in the Grip area for me (My Hand) ...........Also, I would be careful of that finish on the butt...It is probably similar to paint on wood...if you chip it, it may start to spread.

Other than that...If you like thick Butts...tweak the shaft and tip to your liking...it will probably be fine...
