Just got a new table...but pockets are different sizes.

Just got a new pool table yesterday, it plays great, but one thing has me concerned. The pockets are different sizes, my brother mesured all the openings to the pockets and they are all different. Some have wider openings and some have smaller openings. Should we complain or should we just deal with it. It still plays great, and the pockets are not too far from each other, but I dont know what to do. The installer said that he was a professional, 7 years to be exact. Yet our pockets are off, and the nails he used to put the pockets on were not in all the way, so when you hit the balls in it puts a dent in the balls. What to do|?

Either one of those issues aren't exactly minor :(

I'd be mad if I bought a brand new set of balls just to get one chipped the first time I used them :(

Not to mention now that you know the difference you will constantly be going "I wonder if that would have gone in a properly sized pocket...?"

Yeah but the balls that got chipped were the crappy plastic balls that came with the table, we fixed the nail problem and now we have the nice Arimarth balls. I don't mind the pocket think too much, the smaller the pocket the harder it is, then the better I get.

just to be sure are you measuring from the jaw openings or what?

The size of the pocket is mostly dictated by how the rails are cut and whether or not they overlap the hole or not. All the rails should be cut at the exact same angle, if they're not then someone cobbled together a bunch of different rails onto one table. I can see that happening when someone is redoing a table's rails and can't afford to buy a new set, but I can't see it on a new table.

Another possibility is that the rails were not centered correctly... like if one rail is positioned a bit further away from the side pocket than it should be, then it would cause more rail to stick out in front of the corner pocket. That one mistake would case 2 pockets to be different from all the rest.
