Just got kicked out from tourney

I would have barred you long before this. People don't play in little tournament's like that for the money. It is supposed to be fun. Sounds like you get off beating up on weaker players.

can't get there against someone that can draw the rock...not seasoned

Tourney organizers texted me and asked me not to come back cause I won the tourney 17 times out of 21 according to them ( had no idea they kept track ). I know I'm supposed to feel honored for being kicked out for being too good but I'm pissed. The wording implied I was a piece of sht for stealing and they got tired of it. It wasn't a sweet message at all. First of all it's an amateur tourney. I'm under 700! 100% not a pro. Nowhere near pro speed actually. Nobody would even call me a semi-pro. It just happens to be tourney packed with weak players. Not my fault. I told the organizers to make it handicap they turned that down. The tournament director has never won his own tourney I think that's what this is about. Or is he right? Where is the cutoff? Is it valid for me to be pissed? Now I'm thinking about all these other small tourneys I win and worry I'm gonna get similar texts. And no I don't only do small tourneys I gamble with monsters ( I get weight! ) and enter larger tourneys where I have no chance. I donate plenty myself. Whose side are you on? I have two friends who've gotten banned from tourneys and they both said it's normal welcome to the club. First time this ever happened to me. It's not even about the money, I have friends at those tourneys it's like I'm getting removed from a social scene for working my ass off.

Just out of curiosity, what size are the tables, what game do they play, and what is the tournament a race to, if not handicapped?

If it is a fairly long race, maybe to 7, then the strongest player will usually win every time, and it should be a handicapped tournament.

But if it is a short race, like a race to 2 8 ball, or a race to 3 9 ball, then there is no need to have a handicap, and any decent player should have a fair chance to beat a stronger player, because the races are so short, and anyone has a chance, if they are at least good enough to run out, or play good defense.

In longer race tournaments, they usually only allow certain level players, like C level only for example, or tournaments for B level only, or tournaments for no AA players, and so on, so if there are only very weak players in that tournament, and it is a longer race, then I think it is fair for a much stronger player to not be allowed to play.

I have seen players who got so strong that they even got banned from long race handicapped tournaments, because they were AA speed, and still winning the handicapped tournament far too often, which was mostly filled with B and C level players.

Usually if you dominate one, they put a bounty on you and let you keep playing.
I have a life goal now!

I like the advice to back off after winning a couple. I'm fortunate that a local bar has a good scene with plenty of competition near my level. A lot of places I feel weird being the only one with a nice cue, like I just want to beat up on the casuals.
Used to be in foosball tourneys I played, there was one promaster who played and won multiple weeks often. He was cool, nobody wanted him gone, but they did want him to lose.

We started a bounty system where a portion of the money would go into a pot after his third win in a row. When someone put him out, they got that money.

Funny things happened, he liked it, played harder, had more fun, and we started having a lot more guys winning multiple weeks.
That sounds like everyone liked good competition.

I had a local tournament ban me from inspecting the racks before breaking because when I do I make a ball > 80% of the time...

I mean I kinda get it. When I was living in Spain there was this local tournament and a famous Spanish player always showed up to play that tournament, this player is a pro and everyone else is amateur.
You knew right from the start who is going to win the tournament.

He won that tournament several times in a row.
In the nineties here in Holland, we had a weekly house tournament where some really good players were some of the regulars but also lots of beginner-level amateurs. One of those real good players was Huidji See, who eventually got to be a pro (2010 world champ 10-ball, actually) so everyone knew when they entered the tournament and he was there too: the money goes to him. I do know for sure though, that I learned a great deal about competition and I look back on that period quite fondly.

You win 17 out of 21 tournaments with a full 32 player field every week and you don’t understand why they don’t want you back?

Yes, it sounds like they should handicap you and only you to the extreme that you would eventually stop coming.

The TD should have done something about this situation a long time ago.

Yeah, of course it's nice when an amateur can play a pro but he won almost all the matches 7-0 haha, he's one of the top Spanish players (Francisco Díaz-Pizarro)

Players had to pay a hefty fee to play in the tournament and most people who had to play with him didn't get to shoot a single shot, so you paid like $100 to see him wipe the floor with you.

What's your percentage when not inspecting? And what sort of percentage would they consider acceptable? If someone's not over 50% they are better off deferring the break.

Yeah, that's expensive racking practice.

It happens. I have a rule that I just take off the next week after I win. If I win too many in a row (every other week) then I skip for a few weeks.
I also tip the bartender/waitress and tournament directors generously.
They are always happy to see me.
Yes! If people enjoy playing you, and you tip well, they will tolerate a LOT. This is the best advice.

Don't feel bad for being a good player, that's important. From a TD perspective, I get why they're upset, but completely banning you from the tournament is not the right thing to do. They should have adressed the issue way earlier and find a way to make it enjoyable for everyone. The easiest thing to do is to just handicap the winner for the next tournament. If he/she wins it again, raise the handicap. Eventually, someone else will grab the cash. Or just pay out more than 1st and 2nd place. Banning players for being to good is just a shitty behavior from a hurt-ass TD. There are so many options to make a tournament enjoyable for (nearly) anyone.

We also have weekly tournaments in our club where, most of the time, the same people contend for the money. We haven't had a single complaint about banning or restricting the better players yet. It's a round robin format, so everyone gets to play a lot of matches before the (semi)finals, and that normally ensures that everyone is happy. When someone gets their ass handed to them by a better player, they take it as a free lesson and move on. That's how pool works. I am definitely one of the better players in our club, but I don't regularly play tournaments anymore, so no one really cares if I would win every time I enter.

Yeah okay, that's different. We paid maybe 5 euros entry fee.

Story of my life. I’m dead money against solid players and can rob all the B players with ease. It’s that “in the middle speed”, I can’t get there in open tourneys and I too was barred from all the B player tourneys. So I stopped playing in any of them and just stuck to action.

It’s in between speed-it’s a lonely place.

Best of luck,
Fatboy <———hates being in the middle

However winning 17/21 you should be bumped up. I’m amazed they let you rob that tourney that many times. Sounds like the TD was asleep.

I’ve been barred from tourneys just because the TD watched me play. At the end of the day when you play that strong what’s the point? Unless your broke? And you said your not, so move up. I get it-being dead $ sucks too. But it is what it is. So can’t stand tourneys for that reason. Action and matching up is best-only your customer can quit you and you are your own boss.

These are not friends you need. It's one, single, local tournament, evidently run by a petty loser. Move on and enjoy. PLEASE dwell on all of the positives in your life and let this go. Don't let this ONE frustration take any more of your time, fun, peace, and life away from you. Focus on what is good.

Nope, TD literally spelled things out. Anyone under 700 is not a pro in my opinion. I can't even hang with semi-pros. This is not the case of me being strong, it's just a weak tourney. I never thought about tipping TD maybe it's a good idea but can also look suspicious.
whats your fargo.......690?
yes you are under 700 😂
would you tell us you real fargo please?

This sorta just happened to me and a buddy but worse, it was our first time. New bar and tournament started up so me and a buddy go. Me and him in finals so we just split. He gets banned and I have to give 2 games next time I go. 15 players and all but one was a hack at best 🤷🏻‍♂️. 🖕 We're not coming back
