I see great! 20/20! Funny thing is I still reach up to adjust my glasses before I go down to shoot. I play it off like I am scratching the side of my face. New year, new eyes, hopefully new game. ARM.

I have been procrastinating long enough on eye surgery, I'm committed to getting this done now. I have read more pro laser surgery posts then con posts.

I'm very glad you have your eyes back, Any side effects, pain or problems with the procedure?

Good luck! I had my eyes done 4 or 5 years ago and never had 20/20. Guess you must've gone to a guy who actually had a license to perform the procedure. I wanted to save a few bucks so I went to the Earl Scheib of Lasik. Anyway, though my vision was always an excuse, after the surgery I realized it wasn't all that. The only reason I've gotten better is because I've worked on my game.:)

It help me probably a ball.

I went from 400/20 uncorrected to 13/20 in each eye.

Cost me about $3500 and was money well spent.

We all pay bills and someone else first. I went and had it done about 2 years ago.

Best money I have ever spent on me!

I have better vision at 43 than I have EVER had in my life!

Imagine that!

They tell you to go to bed after the surgery. That's when the numbing solution wears off. It's a little sore for the 1st. few hours. After that it's just some sensitivity to light. At night- looking at street lights and traffic lights, I see faint images of the light North, South, East, and West of center. Like a big cross. It should go away. Doc says it's all normal. It really doesn't bother me though.

Sorry to hear that yours wasn't so successfull. I went to the Filutowski institute. I had Dr. Dempsey do the procedure on me. They are top notch with this high definition lasik procedure. The best thing I liked about it was that it was bladeless. The laser cut the flap not a blade.

Lasik Surgery

Just curious: How old are you?

It seems that for folks that are over 50 it may not be a good idea or do I have the wrong impression?

Thanks.

Stephen

Welcome to the club! I had mine done a year or two ago. 20/15 baby!

ps- the light sensitivity should gradually get better. I had that too for a while.

I had Lasik Done the day before New Years Eve and it's just getting better every week. The 1st week (I actually have a post about it) was a bit rough and I was nervous. I have a heavy astigmatisim in my right eye and after the procedure it was very hard to foucus and it was a bit scary. Now it's been like 3 weeks and it's just improved so much! There are a lot of people that are negative towards this surgery and I've actually noticed most of these people haven't personally even had it done...they just tell horror stories of others I guess. Anyway, my eyes are much better...one eye (my good eye) is 20/16 and my bad eye is in between 20/30 and 20/25. A week after sugery my bad eye was 20/40 so you can see it's obviously just getting better. The doctor told me it will take at least 3 months for my eyes to really even out and not to panic. I was just worried that I was going to have to have another procedure...doesn't look that way now though :)

Glad to see that a lot of people are getting good results. I myself think it is more painful to watch it get done than actually having it done.

congrats, I'm considering getting it done this year maybe. Contacts are good but a pain.

Anyone had PRK or LASEK (note: the "E")?
I have a scarred cornea, and would have to have one of these procedures.
I understand the recovery time is longer.

I had Lasik done in 2001. Went from -300 /-270 to 20/20 and 20/15. My vision was so bad before surgery that I had one of those alarm clocks with numbers bigger than my fingers. Even so, I still had to grab the clock and move it closer to my face to read the time. I recommend this surgery to anyone with bad vision. For me it was some of the best money I have ever spent.

I'm going on 60, but I was around 55, I think, when I had it done. I never heard of a reason for people in their 50's not to have lasik, though someone advised a friend of mine to wait until he developed cataracts, then he could have them removed and new lenses inserted. Who wants to wait for that?

I had PRK done almost four years ago in Virginia Beach, by Douglas Rampona of First Colonial Eye Care. I don't know exactly how bad my vision was before treatment, but I was required to wear glasses (near-sighted) to drive. A few months after the surgery, I was seeing as well as 20/10. I'm probably not 20/10 now, but I'm still better than 20/20. I had it done on a Thursday (maybe Friday), and was seeing clear enough to go back to work on Monday, but it will take a couple of days for you to see clearly. Your vision will most likely improve gradually for a couple of months after you have the procedure done.

You'll probably be given pain medication after PRK, and you won't want to miss a dose. I made the mistake of taking a dose late, as it knocked me out and I slept until the medication had worn off, and was in considerable pain when I came to. I'd recommend that you have someone who can wake you nearby when it's time for the next dose. You'll have to use several forms of eye-drop medication too, but if I can make it through that, anybody can. Heck, the only reason I had the surgery done was because I was too tired of wearing glasses and too squeamish for contacts.

I know that I don't sound exactly like an ambassador for eye surgery here, but don't let any of that scare you from doing it. I have never regretted having the surgery and would do it again in a second. All type of sporting activities (and non-sporting) are infinitely more enjoyable (at least they are for me) when you can see clearly without glasses, especially being able to see the edge of a dark colored ball at the far end of the pool table.

Do you have to wait?

I know that the multi-focal lense implants can be used instead of the single-focal lenses when you have cataract surgery. But can you have the implants put in just for vision correction?
