So I haven't been able to make a ball lately. Practicing the same shot over and over and never sure why it missed or why it went in, starting to drive me CRAZY:eek:
Last night was the same thing, then my daughter called. Pulled out my cel phone and held it with my bridge hand and talked to her. Just for kicks, i started shooting one handed, not jacked up but off the rail. I used to shoot ok like that. And i started making balls, hitting where I was looking and making shots, long and short.
shot that way for 30-40 minutes and was making two or three in a row without missing. I know that sucks but compared to earlier it was great.

I finally figured out and confirmed tonight that I can't shoot with my head way down on the cue!!!
Raised up to about where I shoot one handed and they are going in!!

I believe it is because I am left eye dominant and shoot right handed.
What a relief. Now I just need to stop all those bad habits and . . .

I shoot better raised up a little too, seems like a lot of billiard players
are raised up more also.

It's easier to put your eyes in the correct position......

You would not believe the number of players that I have raise up a little and their aim just naturally gets easier.

it just gives you the ability to put the eyes in the best position possible.

Good Luck

I am glad somebody (besides me) brought this up. I have the same problem. I can run several balls in a row one-handed - even jacked up - while I struggle to make the same balls when down on the cue. Particularly on long cut shots where the OB is at the opposite end of the table. The thinner the cut and the farther away it is, the harder it is for me to see the contact point.

I haven't attributed this to eye dominance as much as to having a more overhead view of the cut angle. The more it deviates from straight in, the harder it is for me to see the correct angle from afar. I've just evolved into a player that stands straighter at the table than many do. If nothing else, it keeps my Miz-size belly off the rail.

BTW is it legal to shoot one-handed in a game? There are many shots I can easily shoot jacked up that I can't possible reach without the mechanical bridge. I can also make these shots left-handed, but I miss more of them that way than I do shooting them jacked up.

If you are left-eye dominant and shoot right-handed then it's absolutely essential that you raise your stance or you're going to have to engage in some pretty weird neck contortions (and I've seen some). That's the only way you can possibly get your dominant eye on the same vertical plane as your stroke. Good luck and keep working!
