a couple of days ago, i got an opportunity to buy a Meucci original 84-8 second edition....

i have to say this cue is quite cool.. it has an original leather wrap.. basically seamless! well almost.. anyways.. i will let the pictures i took with my iphone do the talking... its no where near perfect, it has some dingers and bumps.. but the butt is straight as an arrow, the shaft is alittle thin (for me anyways) and seems to have a roll in the middle but the ferrule and collar never leave the table.. its hard to tell.. needs to be cleaned.. but it may have an ivory ferrule.. and weighs 3.9 ounces!

***edit, I cleaned the shaft and the ferrule Is not ivory****

i firmly believe if Bob still built them like these originals.. he would be still doing fantastic.. but you know how that old story goes..

not sure what i am going to do with it yet.. probably end up selling it.. but i knew when i saw it.. i just had to buy it!

That's a pretty cool cue. I love them old Moochies. Recently found a nice old one for my father, and he loves it. Can't seem to find the one for which I am looking, though.

Yeah it feels great.. I wish Bob still made them with the quality wood like he did back then! The wrap feels great too.. There is a tiny gouge, in the bottom of the wrap where it rolls up , going to stick a tiny drop of super glue to hold it down..

I think I am going to sell it though..

chris, the 84-8 is one of my favorites. my very first "custom" was a meucci 84-8 i ordered with a few extra's. i sold it once, felt bad about it a few years later, tracled it down and bought it back (for more than i sold it for). i still have it and won't sell it. nice cue!!

Guy and Yally.. thanks for the kind words.. cleaned the shaft some tonight without sanding it.. and got a chance to play with it some on the triple shim gc3 at one of my local halls... the cue plays great.. super comfortable.. hits like a dream.. i will have to measure the shaft.. it feels under 12.75.. but not much , i like 13's...

anyways.. i am on the fence with it.. i did originally buy it to resell it.. but who knows when.. or even trade it up.. but since i am not in it real bad so i am in no hurry.....

Moochies...lmao on that one. Ironic that you bought your dad one, because my dad bought me one in 1986 and it was my 1st nice cue. Earl Strickland came by Morristown, Tennessee back in '86 and sold a Meucci Original with no points to someone at Hawk's Poolroom. My dad then bought the cue for me for $100 I think. I always thought it was cool playing with that cue, because it once belonged to Earl. It played really nice and I picked up a shaft with the old yellow Micarta ferrule and it played even better. I can't find that cue anywhere. I've searched my grandmother's house over for that cue, because that's the last place I remember it being. Wish I still had it, but oh well, there's several others that fall into that catagory.

Nice pick up Chris. Hope all is well with you. Oh yeah, that Omen jump/break is still the nuts! I don't have near as many dry breaks as I did before buying that cue, it just absolutely hammers the rack.
