Hi all. I just picked up this Joss cue on Ebay from a seller in Fla who found it at an estate auction. Apparently the cue has been stored since new. It has never been chalked and came in the original packaging. I opened it just to take the pictures. Its in absolutely perfect condition. Someone here had mentioned in another thread that it was the first or one of the first attempts of Joss to create a break cue. As you can see in the first picture with the original packaging, it is labeled as a model number 94-U which I guess is listed in the ’92 price list as a “New Heavy Weight Break Cue” on their website here.... http://www.josscues.com/cue_archives/Archive/html/oldpricelists_html/series92_pricelist.html I read that the inlayed logo was specifically designed for the break cue and is supposed to look like a jumbled Joss logo from the force and speed of the break. The tip is actually 13mm and the weight is 19.5oz. There was another cue that this seller had that was 18oz and the inlayed logo was in the forearm maple instead of the area where the wrap would be if it had one. As you can see from the last image, there is a slight imperfection in the grain or the maple but otherwise the cue is magnificent. I have searched and searched for any other information on it so I thought I would turn to the experts here. I'd like to know if anyone is familiar with this cue, what your opinions are on it, what you think it is worth and if anyone can send me Dan Janes' email address so I could contact him regarding the cue. Now obviously the cue is not exactly a work of art but I'm intrigued at the fact that it may be somewhat rare and valuable. Thanks very much in advance.

I have had a few of these, not in this good of condition though. The last one I had I sent pictures to Dan and he said that cue never had a real name, they just called them "break cues". He also told me the wavy logo is the shaft bending when it strikes the cue ball. I'm sure I still have our email conversation and will post it up if I do.

Found the email, didn't realize it was that long ago....2010

This was a break cue I made a great many years ago.
It doesn't have a model number it was just called a break cue.
The logo / design on the cue is a cue ball being hit so hard that the tip puts a dent in the ball.
The cue is jointed with a finger joint. This makes a multi point look.
The slanted letters represent the shaft moving so fast during the break that the letters are tilted by the speed of the butt.
It was a fun cue that I only made a few of way back when.

Regards,
Dan
