Not our problem, it’s the problem of American pool
Just started watching the 10 ball on ultimate pool.

The majority(by a big margin) of pool players in the US have ZERO desire to play on a 9ft table. All league play and most tournament play is on the barbox. They don't have the time or the desire to play on big tables. They don't give a airborne copulation about 'letting their stroke out'. Hey, i love 9fts myself but i'm way in the minority in this country. IMO these UP cats are geniuses by tapping into a ready-made market.
Agree 100%. The place i play has a BUNCH of leagues and i'm gonna say maybe 15% of them ever hit a single ball on the GC's. They play to get out of the house, have fun, see friends, knock back a few drinks. They have no desire to play on a big table.
I don't understand what makes you think it is a problem for Americans. I'm American and don't GAF what you or others think and don't GAF what others think about America. So there's that. When you bitch and moan about bar boxes you are mainly talking to yourself, carry on.

I have a Gold Crown in my basement that I love to play on, I also love playing on what some call "kiddie tables". Its quite possible those that call bar boxes "kiddie tables" do it to make up for deficiency's in other departments, kinda like the lifted/big tire 4x4 thing.
People might like playing on 7ft tables, but they make for awful viewing.
A top professional makes 99% of their shots, and the game comes down to luck with the break.
There are also no safety exchanges, which are an enjoyable part of pool.
The Mosconi Cup starts in a few weeks and that event is head and shoulders above anything Ultimate Pool throw up.
It’s a problem when Americans try to compete on the international arena.
American players used to be the best. If you are good with being a “has been” and a “used to” then enjoy it.
If players stop playing on bar boxes then room owners will get rid of them and bring in 9ft tables.
Most Americans prefer the bar box because it’s easy. There is no easy way to the top.
Why don’t you want to make America great again?
Wrong Wrong Wrong!!! You dont have to like it, watch it or support it, but its going to grow and its just another form of Pool. The same thing was said about APA, its not Pool, its hurting the game..., it bigger than BCA and Ultimate Pool probably will be too. Its not the end of Pool, its another phase another place for people who love the game to play and enjoy.
Pool needs as many formats and games as possible to attract more players and more sponsors..., $$$ is all we need

To be honest these tables don't really meet the definition of what most people believe as a bar table. Other than their size these tables play great they use conventional set of balls good cloth its really nothing different in the game other than the table is smaller.
Years ago when I played on bar tables they were in bars that half the time there was no light hardly over the table, the balls were dirty the cue ball was much bigger than the object balls or at best was one of those weird magnetic balls And it was a completely different game. Not so today. Those are fine pool tables which I would have no problem playing on any of them.
I'm won the State bar table championship and part of the prize was a brand new valley table to be installed wherever I wanted it. I owned a pool room at the time so I had the table put in the pool room and I got to tell you it was the busiest table in the place. I seriously thought about adding three or four more.
What the hell are you talking about? Ultimate Pool is British.

I don’t recall Britain being a pool powerhouse nation. The USA was… so maybe taking pool lessons from the brits is not that great of an idea

That's not my problem, I get nothing when Americans win in International pool, their wins are not my success. I would venture to say that Americans used to be the best only because people from other counties didn't travel like they do now. So Americans didn't get worse other countries simply showed up to play in the USA. I highly doubt that the Pinoys or Aisians suddenly became good pool players recently. The US will never be a pool powerhouse unless they develop kids from a young age like other countries do, it has nothing to do with bar boxes. For people who play regularily on both tables I fail to see how spending more time with your cue in hand even if it is on a smaller table will decrease your skill set. There just isn't that huge of a difference between playing on different size tables, you either shoot straight or you don't, not shooting straight will hinder your game on either size table.
They obviously play on snooker tables.
There's a lot to be said for the UP Black Ball speed pool jam. Amazing outs, no waiting.

99% of pool players that support bossiness could give a rip what country produces the best pool players. Heck, probably well over 75% of pool players couldn't give you a name of a professional pool player, other than possibly knowing the name Mosconi, or Fats.Oh, well that’s just makes it okay now…

I love pool. I like watching pro pool, I really like watching Ultimate pool. Are there rules different, yes, doesn't make that form of pool better or worse than standard pool. If I could only watch one, I would choose Ultimate pool simply because pro 9 ball or ten ball can be stale, slow and dragged out, and boring as hell at times. Then you have one pocket, straight pool and all those other like games, boring as hell unless you are really into it. It's no wonder pool doesn't make it on tv or the Olympics as the interested viewing base is virtually zero. I guess there is hope though as people for some reason will watch golf.
You can knock ultimate pool all you like, but it's probably the only format that has a chance in he-- to possibly expand viewership. Is fast paced, exciting, and the players appear to be having a great time. Totally different than the players of pro pool that sit their like a bump on the log, looking all pout faced when they are losing. Forget the fact that pro pool is so slow to watch at times. Unless you are really into it, it's just boring to watch and not hard to figure out why it will virtually never be televised.
