Okay first an introduction =P, this is Tim, I grow up from a small place called brunei, for the past 3months till now, I'm currently at Taiwan(Chinese Taipei) and I just turned 17, 2 weeks back, and all I've been playing in pool/billiards are 9ball, I do play 8ball sometimes, just started straight pool, 2 days ago, didn't really get the hang of it, my highest break is only 13, and well. its also kinda my average break, I always get 13. =_="

Anyways, let's hope for a higher breaks. =P I'll update this thread when I get any higher. =P

You'll get there Tim. Just watch some of the videos in this forum and you'll get the hang of shooting those last 2 or 3 balls to give yourself a good break shot.

There are some videos in the first sticky thread with some highruns for 2009.

Good luck Tim. straight pool is a wonderful game, and you can only improve!

Yeah, thanks for the advices & replies, I've always been playing pool on a same brunswick table which is modified as in the pockets are real small, it can fit like 1 and a 1/4 of the balls, and today I tried the tounament size pockets I get to 26. =)

how do i play

can someone direct me to the best place to learn 1 pocket?
thanks
Irish

playing straight on super-tight pockets is no fun. as far as instruction is concerned; download jim rempe's "how to run 100 balls in straight pool" it's the BEST tutorial around and beats the HELL out of all books on the subject.

you have to hang out at pool halls where they play the game and do a LOT of watching.... THEN, schmooze your way into playing a friendly game with them and pay attention.
