You know, I read all the time about shaft weights with a higher weight being better. This has always somewhat confused me as when people speak of this, it never seems to take into account piloted or not, shaft diameter, ferrule types. Example:
Schon (piloted brass insert):
Butt - 15.0 oz (stainless joint typical 5/16x14 pin)
Shaft 1 - 4.5 oz (13mm standard ferrule)
Shaft 2 - 3.9 oz (12.5mm ivory ferrule)
Bender (w2w no insert)
Butt - 15.2 oz (ivory sleeved 3/8x14 pin)
Shaft 1 - 3.8 oz (12.75mm ivory ferrule)
Shaft 2 - 3.7 oz (12.5mm ivory ferrule)
It seems like we're always comparing apples to oranges or am I wrong on this? Which shaft is the most dense and why?
