Just wondering - Tax refund for Pool

I used to earmark my tax refund every year as an opportunity to go out gambling some for higher stakes. I am just wondering how many have their tax refund or the tax rebate marked for something to do with Pool.

Either buying a cue with it, case, gambling, anything Pool related?

Years ago, 5-6 years, I had a guy ask me to play right after he got his refund check back, and cash it the same day. He got back $1,350. I gave him the 8, and won 2 bags of sand from him. I ended up having to sell his cue, etc., cause he airballed me for $600.

Har, from the subject line, I thought this was going to be a thread about trying to get a tax deduction for playing pool - as if playing was a deductable item. :P

whats a tax refund

I think he is talking about the stimulus package...from an email I received:

Help America - spend your rebate wisely.

The federal government is sending each and every one of us a $600
rebate.
If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China. If we
spend
it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs. If we purchase a computer it
will go
to India. If we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico,
Honduras, and Guatemala. If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan.
If
we purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help
the
American economy. The only way to keep that money here at home is to buy
prostitutes and beer, since these are the only products still produced
in
the US. Thank you for your help.

Actually I think he's joking around, implying that he never gets a refund, he always has to pay in... :P

Soon we will all be getting that Special, or Extra Refund Check I hope.

If the Man only got a Really nice Searing with your tax money you're not paying enough taxes:D . I'm sure he could have bought at least 3 really nice Searing's with my bill:mad: .

I have earmarked my refund this year for my first cue and a case. Will have plenty left over (changed my w-4 claim to get more money lol) but I won't be gambling on MY pool ability with it that's for sure!

I'm using mine to go to the BCA tourney in Vegas...

And the extra $600 will go into my tourney funds once I get it.

That makes me feel better, but it still sucks to write the check.

one of the many perks of selfemployment, no refund since 1993 lol

I ordered a cue from J&D Customs (Jim Lee) that should come in soon after that check. He seems like a great guy and I like to support people like that!

I used mine 3 years ago to buy my Predator 4K7, and a nice case. The next year it went to a trip to Vegas to APA National Singles, where I missed the qualification. The same goes this year, trip to Vegas, plus a couple cheap cues. Feb/March/April is a major pool investment time for me :)

All $1800 of mine will go into savings.... :p

(or I may put it into the market to see what happens... after all, that's the intention, right?)
